Vintage Trek Frame - pre-1984 decal - which model?
Hello BF.
Can you help me ID the model# and year of this?
Pre-1984 decal on down tube. Geometry looks pretty steep. Reynolds 531 decal on downtube. Color looks like dark blue - maybe slate? Panel color dark red?
Caliper brakes, cable guide on underside of chain stay
Thanks!

I'll guess '83 640 if it's Reynolds 531. Or '83 560 if it's Reynolds 501. Color theme wise it looks more like a 560 (no red head tube).

The seller replied to my inquiry and he says that there is no '....Series' decal on the top tube and no model number decal on the chain stay. I'm not sure what year Trek started applying these decals. He also says that there is no serial #! I asked him to re-check. I also asked him to verify the Reynolds sticker - 501 or 531.
Good catch re: the lack of braze-ons on the drop-outs. And, as mentioned the lack of a contrasting color on the head tube may indicate a 5xx model. I wish the actual color was more distinguishable.
We'll see what he says.

The seller tells me that its Reynolds 501 and the serial # is rusted away as shown in the photo. Probably an early 80's 560 or similar.
Thanks for the input. I'm passing on this one.

Didn't like mine - 501 is a big "meh".
floppy front end as well.
