Looking for spring on top of Meidai/ Schwinn pump

I bought this NOS Cyclepro pump (AKA Meidai, MDI, Sears, Schwinn, Rampar….) off Ebay.

Unfortunately it’s missing the spring on the top which doubles as a hose clip. Does anyone have a broken down similar pump with the spring to spare?

I’d look at the hardware store for a suitable spring and maybe use a coat hanger or similar to create a makeshift hook

they’re great pumps, I put a Presta head on the one I got a dozen years ago.

Did you know it was missing the spring? It looks like the handle was removed for shipping. If so, the spring would then be free slide off the end of the shaft.

I like having something to hold the end of the hose, rather than just letting flop around loose and getting caught on things and making things more difficult than they should be.

I second the hardware store for the spring, however, if you want that spring like the original with the holder for the end of the hose, you may have to get a longer spring, then heat it up and shape it for the hose holder. It will likely rust after the application of heat. But that is better than not having a place to hold the hose.

Another option nowadays is to get something 3D printed. Find someone that has one or does design and printing as a service. Or as Biancigirl suggested, make it out of a coat hanger or similar steel rod.

One more thought @icemilkcoffee, you could get what is called music wire and wind it around a the rod and then form the part to hold the end of the hose. Music wire is formable. It looks like it is available from K&S Hardware and it is carried by some Ace hardware stores. The K&S one is .025" diameter.

This is formable and you should be able to make the spring and a provision for holding the tube all in one piece.

Update: In a stroke of unbelievable good luck, the seller of the pump found the errant spring and sent it to me. It is now re-united with the pump:

Beautiful pump! The chrome body attracts fingerprints something fierce though.
