Ha, I wish I could handle it better. Instead, I avoid it by riding early in the morning.

I hear ya! I was running like crazy the last few weeks despite the heat. it was great. I tried to run early and late avoiding peak mid-day sun, also some nite rides. haven't ridden my bike in weeks, not sure if I remember how

zzOtherlandzz is NOT a morning ride person..... DOH!!!!! Some days its really hard to get motivated with it being so hot..... Like today..... But i'm going to try and get a ride in this evening. OHHHH yesterday it sucked I rode past this soda machine in the state park i was checking out.... Thinking i'll grab a cold soda and sit at a picnic table and take a break on the way back... BUT NO!!! It would not take my dollar or my change.... All the while im standing there in the sun sweat just dripping all over..... NOT to mention the smell of BBQ throughout the picnic area.... I GOT out of there as fast as I could (which wasn't that fast) ...

It was 83F when I got out of bed today -- 88F when it was time to ride. My wife said she didn't like for me to ride in this heat. The heat index is supposed to be 105F+ today. Maybe tomorrow.

I have to head out at the crack of dawn to get in any decent length of ride... anything past about 9:00 and my brains start to cook inside my helmet from the heat. I've been doing 6:30 to about 8:30 lately.

It's been awful here in Jacksonville. I don't feel like I notice it too much once I'm moving, but it sure wears me out quicker. Lots of sunscreen and fluids

We've been right at or just over 100 degrees for the last 10 days or so. I've been riding anyway, even though I wear out quicker. I swear I smelled bacon on my last ride. All the dogs were smiling at me.

<sigh>.... Its 4:30pm and it just said 100deg at the bank.... I just don't think I can talk myself into a ride today in that kind of heat.... Maybe, just maybe if some rain comes through and cools it down I'll go.....

Left early today before it got too hot. Tomorrow is supposed to be BAD. The Weather Channel is saying the high will be 100F. Not sure how bad the heat index will be.

Finally, a break coming tomorrow and Sunday. Highs in the low-to-mid 90's... Downright chilly.

The Weather Channel has been whacked up the last few days. Not showing the "Local on the 8s" but showing weather all around the country (who cares). Consequently I ended up riding today and it is a code orange day. I found out about the code orange after i got home. Good thing I didn't die. Thank you very much Weather Channel.

RonH, I knew it was going to be hot as heck, but didn't realize it would be a code orange day until after I rode in to work. Oh well. I'm in no hurry on the way home and brought extra water for dumping on myself if need be. Someone on the boards suggested wrapping ice cubes in a bandanna and then tying that around your neck. I'll give that a shot as well.

I went out last Tuesday evening. It was probably the hottest ride I can remember. When I got home I looked at my legs. I actually had heat rash.

Oh well, I'm going out again today.
