What to use iWatch as HR sensor to see on handlebar?
hi all,
the goal is to see current HR on a device / display is attached to bike handlebar.
What can show HR from iWatch?
No, looking at iWatch while riding isn't an option.
No, secondary HR belt or bracelet isn't an option.
the best if such display can also show HR chart as zones.
I'm aware of heartbeatz device that retransmits HR from iWatch app to intermediate device that transmits in ANT+ to bike computer - is this only current option?
Anyone has used heartbeat? do you like it?
thanks

Assuming you're carrying an iPhone with you when you ride, there are a few iPhone apps that will retransmit your Apple Watch's heart-rate measurement as standard Bluetooth. Heartcast, Blueheart, and Echo BLE Heart Rate. Note that I haven't used any of these, but I've heard they can be finicky to get working right. Obviously your head unit needs to support Bluetooth for this to work.
There are drawbacks to this approach. If you're not tracking the workout on your watch (using the Workout app), it will only sample your heart rate every few minutes, so the data is not very useful. If you are tracking the workout, it will burn through the watch's battery much more quickly, which could be a problem with longer rides (you've also got the lesser problem of two different recordings of the same workout).
Chest straps are pretty cheap and their batteries last for a year. Although I do have an Apple Watch, that's the option I've settled on.

thank you all for your reply.
this is about convenience and avoid HRM strap.
so far I wasn't able to find reliable and practical solution for Apple iWatch only, without riding with phone.
No, iPhone at a ride, just iWatch.
what bike computer / display do you use?
how do you sync from above system that uses HRM strap into Apple?
For how long iWatch battery works with heartbeatz? that makes iWatch to measure HR and transmit for every heartbeat?

I gave up on this, did not find an acceptable solution. Go with a strap-based sensor and save yourself the hassle (I know you don't want to, but...). Wahoo Ticker X just replaced Polar H10. Polar strap was doing bad things to my skin, was sometimes glitchy on connections. Wahoo's been flawless.
