Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I believe it. I'm just way too cheap to buy the good razors. The whole "ignorance is bliss" thing.

Shaving, waxing, sugaring...good Lord. Do you guys paint your toenails also?

you seem particularly interested in this thread given your assertion that you will never shave your legs

She probably just keeps them cleaner.

Strop your blades before you use them. It will remove the tiny bits of rust.

I won't be shaving my legs, ever. My legs are freaking hairy and I can't imagine staying on top of that. It's bad enough to use the beard trimmer twice a week and shave my face now and then.

If my legs say "FRED" to some roadies, tough ****. I'll prove myself in the saddle. (Or not! ) But either way, drag from leghair is utterly irrelevant to my performance.

I find that shaving becomes more essential for me when it gets colder. Mainly because tights pull the frickin hairs and are really uncomfortable. I also use embrocation all the time for cross training and racing and good luck ever getting it off w/ hair (plus it wouldn't work all that well as far as rubbing it in either). Plus it's helpful for self massage. I use the new Bodygroom thing which is way better than the old one. The old one barely cut, but this one is a pro.

Someone has to stand up for traditional manliness. It always crack me up the reasons that guys come up with for wanting silky-smooth legs. The "Rite of Passage" reason has to be the dumbest of all. I always participate in the leg-shaving threads.

sorry to break it to you, but riding your bicycle around in spandex isn't manly. might as well take it to the next level.

I look at that as wearing the proper equipment for the activity. Like wearing eye protection while playing racquetball or wearing running shoes while jogging. No need to compound the sillyness by shaving your legs because it's easier to apply sunscreen or you just want to "fit in".

In fear of anybody actually obliging you, I think I'll avoid returning to this thread.

Meet my lunchbox. My favorite shirt has a pink piggie on it. Curiously, no one gives me guff.
