So, Obama made it to Franklin BBQ today, in Austin.

Never eaten there myself since I don't have time for 3-hour lines for lunch. Place closes when they run out of food, and they always close. He paid for everyone in line too.

Damn. Free lunch on the Prez? I'd be all over that. He was in Massachusetts like a month ago, too. Guess I missed my shot.

I submitted a first author abstract to a conference. Just heard back that it was accepted for a podium talk.

tangent. my friend owns a restaurant here, and when i was at his home the other day he had a photo of clinton. he told me clinton visited his restaurant (while my friend was traveling)....secret service phoned in advance, scoped the place, etc.

when clinton was there, they tried to comp his meal but there was a person whose specific job was to pay. the prez himself didn't handle the money. apparently there was some worry about accepting something for free would be some sort of violation.

they insisted on paying. not sure if they paid for everyone in line, though.

Nice. Although from what I've seen acceptance doesn’t mean it's good.

In that case, I'll ask the other presenters why they were invited.

Better a small business handout than a big business handout, IMO. Not trying to go P&R... I pretty much despise the system on the whole.

That said, this was pretty funny:
Our cute baby boi Daniel Rugg Webb, local comedian who also works at Franklin BBQ got to fist bump the POTUS today!"

I said to him 'Equal Rights for Gay People' and Obama asked 'Are you Gay?' and I said 'Only When I'm Having Sex!' and then we terrorist fist bumped!" - Daniel

We so proud and love him.

+1 - except, that would mean I *could* go here - trying not to see results, I know, pointless, but still trying.

So i just got a set of blade 2s because i destroyed my old blades at Grandview. One issue is that the pedal does not naturally hang down like my old blades (and all old looks for that matter). I'm thinking of ways to get it to hang down. Possibly putting a small weight somewhere in the lower half of the pedal, but still not sure. It doesn't help that i rarely if ever unclip/clip in besides at races so this new set up is a bit weird to say the least.
