But it is about apps I think more than being easy to use.
Other than size and no voice apps the Nokia N9 was / is the most interesting OS I've ever used. I want Sailfish on some real piece of hardware (with LTE, great camera and stuff) with the voice apps.
In the last 4 years everything has become more cumbersome to navigate.

I don't know if this is Android, the S8 or what but under load the screen is choppy.
Do they just review these things browsing the web?
Clear they don't have a separate graphics processor.
My expectations are too high I guess. I'm not trying to market Windows Phone - it is dead. But really, Android is way long in the tooth. I don't think users are demanding enough. But then I loved IBM OS2. That was an OS!

You can either have a super fast and powerful phone and never use 9/10 of its capability or really bad people unable to do as many really bad things with the 1/10 ability. Plain and simple reality here why you and everyone else are stuck with the second option.

I use scroll lock so infrequently that when it got bumped by accident today, I didn't know what was happening and had to ask Google to figure out why my arrow keys didn't work right.
I'm not entirely sure that I've ever turned it on on purpose. Is there a use for it in today's world? Other than for someone who uses keyboard mappings for literally everything so they have some macro of CTRL-ALT-SCRLK-A-B-RtShift that sends their mom flowers on her birthday?

Have you used the optimization feature in the settings? Might point out a problem. I know that Android in general suffers from tasks randomly deciding to hog the CPU, that happens every now and then with Garmin Connect for me.

The Windows Phone 10 is task switching, which at first seemed lame to me. But background tasks are not supposed to run. I find myself closing background tasks all the time on the S8.

Settings -> Device Maintenance
Give it a second while it scans and then it gives you a X/100 score and a button to "Optimize Now"

Gotta keep this one alive.
The other day I was talking to an IT guy, who works on OT security for a big, important company.
I spell my e-mail for him.
"How is that capitalized?"
"Umm, e-mail isn't case sensitive......."
"Oh, ok"

Daily driver is a Windows phone 10, but that has to go soon.
I'm running Jolla Sailfish.
Really nice OS, but lacking the voice commands and Swype. I was a Meego user and I had expected it to have been a bit more advanced since Jolla had all that time to enhance it.
I'm going to see if I can live with these for about another week.

To be fair, some of us are so compartmentalized in IT we're no longer capable of doing basic IT tasks. My resume is pretty big but I manage so much I'm far from an expert in many of those areas.

I just don't understand how someone uses e-mail for as long as he must have been (at LEAST 15 years, likely more like 20 or so) and doesn't realize something so basic about it. How long has he been worrying about how to capitalize e-mail addresses?
And I mean, yes, technically the first part of the e-mail can be case sensitive, but I've NEVER seen an e-mail system that actually treats them that way or lets you set up mailbox AbC@domain and aBc@domain at the same time. That's just asking for trouble.

I'm assuming your e-mail server will deliver all mail to you regardless of case though, right? So if your e-mail (as you set it up) is Mr_Doge@domain, and somebody sends an e-mail to mr_doge@domain, you will get it? Basically no servers are set up the other way, certainly not anymore.

I have been required to use mr_doge@domain as an account name instead of Mr_Doge@domain.
The e-mail server is fine, the other servers are not always.

Although I've been in high security critical operational environments so long my first reaction was "why are you telling anyone a password???"

Been learning Django at work recently. Had a project I could have taken an easy solution to (just use MS access and be done with it) but I wanted to take the excuse to learn something new. I already "knew" python but django is very different. Seems like it could be an extremely powerful tool in combination with something like bootstrap.
Haven't really ever done web development as I'm not much of a design person, but the framework side of it like Django (and I'm guessing Rails) is very interesting to me!

The plus sign (+) information is super helpful. Instead of having to set up multiple e-mail addresses to use for things you think might sell your info, just put the plus sign and then an identifier, and you can tell where spam is originating and easily filter.
Obviously that will only work as long as the other end is lazy and doesn't start removing the +xxx from your address when they see it's gmail and just storing it that way instead.
