The jersey recommendation thread got me wondering how my jersey wardrobe compares to the rest of you.

Too many. They really don’t wear out like shorts/bibs.

I said 9 but three of those have been worn by either of us depending on the day. At least with jerseys- unlike shades of red lipstick- people can tell the difference between them and understand why you want/need more than two.

I have a lot, it seems, and I've been at this less than five years. I suspect there are folks about as enthusiastic I who, if they are pack-rats, too, have accumulated far more through the years. Maybe I should toss some - I have four from an event that I no longer want to support (two from the years I participated, plus two more I had to buy as part of the race team kit), so I never wear them. I haven't tossed the two that are crash damaged - they're still serviceable, and I still wear those, along with the ones that don't fit well, on dawn patrol sort of rides, so I don't wear out my best Sunday-go-to-meeting jerseys.
If they were all the same, I figure seven would be ideal - enough to ride every day with laundry just once a week.

None, but kinda interested in something made of the same material but more casual like a polo. Summer rides can be brutally humid, even at night. Even techy material t-shirts turn into nasty sticky heavy clumps then.

This is the time of year that bike jerseys are most likely to appear at thrift stores. I buy every jersey I see that fits me, that's how I ended up with 40-50 of them. $3.00 jerseys are tough to pass up.

Shorts I need. Jerseys, not so much.

I'm one of those that take jerseys to the thrift shop every year. Each year, I gain 4-5 from events and a new shop jersey. I try to only have around 10 summer jerseys just not to be so cluttered.

Around 20 but I probably only actually wear 3-4 of them. I can't bear to get rid of old ones though.

I have 11. One is too big (first one, haha!). One has the Astros logo on it. The rest are from my brewery bike team. I got 4 from MS150 rides and I bought the other 5 at the brewery, back when I was first starting out.

You can buy those at Target or Dick's Sporting Goods. They sell them for summer golfing but if you want, you can buy them for cycling.

Also old ones get too small, or just are not worn to save them. I suppose those count. Usable ones for me - 5-10. Wife 20, son (got bags of them).

I don't live in the states though, and American clothes for golfers are cut for American golfers. I am tall and pretty skinny, so local similar clothes also don't really work, too short.

6 in the regular rotation, 2 that I've decided are a bit small, one that I've retired.

I have about a dozen. I get at least two short sleeved team jerseys each season. I get a long sleeved jersey every other year usually unless we radically change designs, which is what happened this year.

I gave away about 10 jerseys to a teammate who's organizing a donation to African racers.

You know those big plastic bins that people sometimes use to store Christmas decorations and the like? I have five of those full of jerseys.
Three more full of bib shorts.
One full of socks, gloves, wind covers for feet, hats, etc...

I've got about 13:
3 were from when I just started - don't wear them much unless just out for a short jaunt on my lunch hour
3 are "fat" jerseys, when I'm about 5-10 lbs overweight after a long, cold winter
4 are long sleeve for the cooler days
3 are slim for mid to end of the season when I'm in pretty good shape

Too many. I used to race and I would always buy two team jerseys for every season as I felt an obligation to train in them and didn't want to put on an unwashed one as well as the real possibility of trashing one in a race or training ride crash. I have a bunch that I haven't worn in years.

I have a few non-team jerseys, but they are mostly wool. I have a Giordana one from 1984 that I love and a more recent Ibex one that my wife convinced me to buy. Not race jerseys, but nice cold weather training jerseys.

Giro make a nice pocket t shirt made of merino wool that has 3 back pockets very nice looking shirt not sure about hot weather tho as I just got it about a month ago

1 MuddyFox jersey, the first jersey I bought when I didn't know better and was at least 2 sizes larger than what I should have been wearing. I don't wear it any more.

1 from an event that I joined last year. I actually participated in more than one event but the others gave out t-shirts instead of jerseys. I suspect my jerseys are going to pile up from future event participations though. As a matter of fact, I'll be adding yet another jersey from an event next weekend.


2 brand new Rapha jerseys that just arrived yesterday. Bought an XS pro team lightweight jersey and an XS brevet lightweight jersey. Wore the XS pro team jersey this morning and found that the fit is perfect -- all my other previous jerseys have always been slightly too big around the chest. Haven't tried the brevet jersey yet.

Two. Short sleeve poly, club fit, not aero. They're good enough for me. I'm not fast enough for a skinsuit to make any difference.

I keep looking at some faux-retro jerseys and having '70s flashbacks to when I wore all merino wool. I wouldn't mind a short and long sleeve wool jersey.

If we're talking shirts suitable for casual riding if I'm not concerned about being aero, I have four more -- three long sleeve, one short. Good wicking fabric, very comfy, but not proper jerseys with pockets, zippered collars, etc. A bit flappy in the breeze. I wear 'em on casual group rides and errands on my hybrids, often as baselayers in winter. Wearing one right now as I type.
