Almost done. Because I will be using this bike more than my weekend warrior one. I opted to go newer components. Trying to keep the look. It's not 100% so
done so don't judge
Had to go with new brak caliper's because of the wheel change..
the original rims were 700x23 but the newer wheels wouldn't fit. Had to replace the calipers

It was the calipers not the wheels
Installed the original rear wheel with the ultegra 6500 , tried out a 105 1055 rear caliper and found that the caliper it came with is long reach. Diacompe 500 Sucks because it would have been a complete ultegra group.

Not my Bianchi, but saw this in FB in a c&v group.
I don't have any info on the bike, but I hope some of you Bianchi experts could shed light on it. Looks like an early gravel bike, 90s maybe. Pretty cool.

2002 ? Bianchi Veloce with steel frame.
This is a donation to the Bike Exchange. Came with 9 speed rear derailleur and cassette. 9 speed? triple rings. And what appears to be an 8 speed rear brifter. bikes we get are often screwed up in one way or another . That's why they get donated. This one had a 3" crack in the face of the spider going from one side of the square taper hole to the other. The paint scheme shows in the catalog as being aluminum framed. I replaced the triple rings with the Datona 39 /54 double seen here. I just had shoulder surgery Wednesday so it will be a week till I can get back to the shop and put a chain on it. The rear derailleur is also a little floppy. I will take the cage off and lube it . hopefully that will make it less floppy. the bike looks fast but when I weighed the frame it was 5.2 lbs. not as light as I would have thought. I have 45 year old steel frames that weigh 4.5 lbs. I wonder why this one is so heavy? wonder why the frame isn't alu? wonder why the brifter is only 8 speeds? but it's what makes doing this interesting eh?

My latest build: 1987 Bianchi Brava, full Shimano 105 group. Took it down to the frame, cleaned everything, regreased headset, BB and 105 hubs, added new ball bearings to BB and hubs, new BB spindle, new saddle, new bartape, cables and housing, new tires and tubes, and put it all back together. Looking forward to enjoying this one for a long time!

^ Very nice. I am sort of looking for one of those, they pretty much share the same frame as the Sport SX and I always liked they way it rode.

Thanks Bianchigirll !! It was fun to work on this one - even though that rear wheel kept giving me problems. Two spokes popped while I was working on the hub, and I replaced them with two black spokes, which I don't mind at all. It gives the bike some character. 
Can't wait to see how it rides!

Here is my only "vintage" bike left in the stable, a mid 90s steel CX bike with a neat ovalized/shaped down tube. I like the geometry and the fact it can take 38s, though I only have some cheap 34s on it right now:
It's pretty much in "as found" condition - I got it cheap because the seat post is stuck...right where I need it.

Beautiful. They were nice frames, probably Bianchi's best effort at a true 'Cross bike.

Got a pretty sweet 1986-7 Strada LX today for a fistful of dollars. Not necessarily high end, but a good candidate for a commuter. I think it looks pretty neat.

Hi I'm new here
Just trying to identify a bike I bought recently. It has been badly repainted, but I can see that it has the serial number 4L30480 at the front top of the steerer tube.
I found some celeste paint in the inside of the BB and rear mech hangar. I was told it was from the late 80's but having whiled away far too much time on the web (and thanks to this great forum) I think I'm a bit closer to working out what it is. The main thing that had me stumped was that it has no pump peg and only one bottle mount, although it has a full 105 groupo, all dating from 87-89.
So then I stumbled on some earlier bikes and saw that up to '85, the pump was mounted along the seat tube, so 1 bottle and no peg. The seat stays are plain where they meet the top lug.
The last thing is that the seat post is 26.2, and looks original. I have ridden it and I was blown away by how comfortable and smooth over bumps it is.
