Hi! Picking it up again after a very long time.

Experienced biker from many decades ago, but I haven't done any significant riding in 20+ years. Now I'm 64 years old and fat plus arthritis and need to get back into shape. Not even sure it's possible, but I'm going to give it my best. Everything I know is old and obsolete, so hoping to learn a few things here. Be gentle!

Thanks! Just bought a new helmet and some fluorescent shirts, but people driving with cell phones still scare me to death. Didn't have that problem way back when.

You will do fine. I haven't really ridden much since 1964.. Better late the never..

Welcome, Conrad. I also restarted riding after a layoff caused by a running injury to my knees, and found that riding was great for getting stronger without hurting my knees. I bet you will find that it works for you, too. Just learn how to use easy gears and a good cadence. Ask in the other forums for advice!

Hi Conradh. You may find the 50+ forum helpful as well as the training and nutrition. I restarted cycling in 2006 and learned a lot from bike forums.

Welcome Conrad! Many people here have picked back up after decades away. (I'm one.) I'm sure you'll love it; it's good in so many ways.
