Thanks to BF! Raleigh Grand Prix 1979 Singlespeed

Wanted to post to thank the C&V forum for helping me build up a 1979 (I think) Raleigh Grand Prix frame. While this is my first post, I've spent many hours searching BF for info on these bikes and learning about the headset and bottom bracket issues, among other things. I've learned a ton. The frame came to me in great shape with the original Raleigh headset and 127 spindle/cup bottom bracket installed. I ended up cleaning and packing the headset to re-use and removing the bottom bracket... Getting that fixed cup out almost killed me, but I ended up using the Sheldon Brown method, plus a 2 foot pipe on a 16" crescent wrench! After tons of research, I decided to go with the VeloOrange threadless bottom bracket, which went in like a charm. This is seriously fun bike for bombing around town with the kiddos and riding to the convenience store or sometimes, local pub. Some of the stuff came from the parts bin, some came from eBay. I don't think I can post a picture, but what went into it follows:

1979 Grand Prix frame with original headset
90's Coda wheelset that was sitting in the garage, relaced rear rim to new Formula flip flop hub
Panaracer Gravelking 700x28
VeloOrange threadless bottom bracket
FSA Gimondi crankset
Sturmey Archer freewheel
Mafac Racer center pull brakes
Salsa quill stem
Soma track drop bar
Soma urban brake levers

So thank you to the BF collective.
Now, on to my next bike project!

With that F. Gimondi crank and the track bars, I'd love to see pics!

Cool build. Is it the angle of the pic, or are those handlebars enormous?

It's a pretty deep bar, but I'm really liking it...
It's a Soma 456 Bar, according to the website it's 170 drop, 107 reach, 25.4 diameter. Highly recommended for leverage when mashing pedals on climbs!

Nice set o' wheels there. Your stilts are longer than mine, that's a tall bike.

Those are handsome bikes. I had one that same paint job, Canadian built.

It was a nice ride.

Good job!

Cool, cool. Also, I like how the Salsa stem matches the color band decals on the frame - an unexpected mix-match.
