Westmass, you need to move someplace warmer. 35F yesterday. Put booties over my shoes. Wore Craft pants with windbloc front over my biking shorts. Put thin patagonia polypro underwear top under my normal short sleeve cycling jersey. Added a windbloc vest and put a shell over all that. Added a thin balaclava and wore gloves under my pogies. I could have left the pogies off but they'll just stay on my bike at this point. I was dressed perfectly. I unzipped my shell almost entirely after I warmed up. The windbloc vest is key for me. It lets me open up my outer jacket and get good air circulation without getting wind directly on my chest. Studded tires keep my ride slow as the old dog I am, but it was a good two hour workout.

Was low thirties with a light breeze coming off Narragansett Bay - wore Sporthill XC pants (commute is short enough such that chamois not required), Smartwool socks, Specialized SPD shoes with PI toe covers, t-shirt with Sporthill Ultimate Visibility II top, covered with Showers Pass Double Century shell. Reflective Buff and helmet with OR PL100 gloves under PI Gel half-finger bike gloves.

Core and toes were pretty good - feel like I might've needed a little more glove...

i started a bit chilly but was generally comfortable at 20mph pace. If there was any shortcoming, it was the tights. A little bit more wind protection would have been welcome. But, then they would be too warm in milder conditions. Tomorrow morning it will be 22F with a 'feels like' of 13F. I'll be wearing the same clothes. Fingers crossed!

My problem is that my ride is hilly enough I'm either sweating going up the hill at 5 mph or being blasted at 30 mph. Wasn't going too badly (my glasses were fogging badly), but then my front derailleur cable snapped and my low is pretty low (so I could pedal going up the hills but coasted going down). Without the usual physical output, I was a bit cold when I arrived at work today.

Last night it was in the low 30's. I had to cross the East River into Brooklyn. I wore a wool hat over my helmet, a regular dress shirt, a thin wool sweater, my new Showers Pass rain jacket, jeans, wool socks, and hiking style shoes with SPD cleats. I couldn't find my winter gloves so I wore my summer gloves.

I was slightly underdressed, especially with my gloves, but I'm very happy to say it was pretty good overall. This jacket is a huge winner and worth every penny.

Another chilly day along the Narragansett - mid-30s and windy (12-15mph). Poly-pro mock neck, with 100 wt fleece, covered with Showers Pass jacket. Skivs and PI Thermal Elite tights; Smartwool socks under Spesh shoes and PI Thermal Elite toe covers. Reflective Buff under the helmet and Swix XC gloves for the paws. Pretty comfy all the way around.

I was quite comfortable even riding into the wind. The EMS gloves are the warmest I've ever had but not as good as mittens. I also have a pair of Hestra 3 finger ski mitts which I'm saving for colder temps. The SP jacket is nice because the fit is quite snug so very little wind drag and vents that can be opened. I like the wool stuff, it's comfortable and I think it works in a wider range of temps than the synthetics. Also doesn't smell . My feet and hands are the big problems. Bar Mitts work well. The downside is if it's windy they tend to act as a sail.

It's south Florida so this was a VERY cold day for cycling, had it not been that it was the annual Adopt A Bike charity ride, I would stayed in a little longer and put on long pants to go to breakfast.

Clothing for around -12C just hasn't been coming together for me yet this season. I'm wearing what I'd normally wear in past years, but its just not keeping me warm. Might just be the wind, I'll try adding a shell instead of a mid-layer. At least my hands and feet have been good so far.

I got an Under Armour ColdGear shirt, but it doesn't play well with my outer layers. The shirt is two layers, the inner layer wicks well, but the outer layer just holds onto sweat and gets drenched.

About to head out the door, temp is 6f with some wind. Base layer of merino wool long underwear, wool boot socks. Soft shell vest with insulated wind she'll over, rain pants (still snow on ground), with my shimano gore-tex boots. Helmet liner with soft shell balaclava over, and helmet cover to block some wind, wool liner gloves under insulated soft shell gloves. Basically what I've worn every winter once the temps hit single digits, luckily I have a decent hill first thing on my commute so I build a lot of warmth right off the bat.

I think what was missing from my cold weather clothing selection was just snow. The extra exertion from snow on the ground generates more heat, plus going slower reduces overall wind speed. Just when I thought I had all the factors for getting dressed figured out, in addition to temperature, wind speed, wind direction, now there is rolling resistance to consider.

Notes - First day with the trigger finger mittens and I'm impressed! Still able to shift and brake but hands/fingers stayed warm. Ride to work is only 4 miles so i'm only outside for 15 mins or so.

Today I wore my new pearl izumi balaclava, long finger mechanic gloves, Adidas cool weather sleeveless under shirt, Canari longsleeve flash jersey, performance bike Nevado baggy shorts, Louis Garneau leg warmers, and socks. As it was in the mid 30's for my first road ride on my new CX bike. Next week I should have my new gore wear long finger gloves.

It was low 30s today when I biked to get groceries. Very windy too. 20 mins each way.

I wore a cheap beanie that covered my ears, Sundowner hiking boots with Ragg wool socks, skiing gloves with polyester glove liners, and heavy jean jacket from the Gap with a uniqlo fleece jacket and uniqlo wool sweater underneath, and Levi jeans with Pearl Izumi cycling pants underneath.

My ears, nose, and finger tips were still freezing though. Maybe I have bad circulation.

35 is simple,,,wool hat, wool socks 2 wool shirts wool sweater, for me 35 is the best riding weather of the year. It is when it gets under 20 that it gets more complicated, it is 7 degrees here, will be 9 high tomorrow, I will pass on riding today, but will ride tomorrow. I will have to add a face mask a wind breaker glove liners and heavy hiking boots.
