Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Username meaning

Just wondering what everyone's username means? Mines pretty simple tjk23, initials of my name and my favorite number.

Because a surprising number of websites don't allow spaces in usernames, so a lot of people don't even try.

Pb is lead on the periodic table of elements. Okole is hawaiian for butt. When I raced in Hawaii, I was a great sprinter but climbed worse than Cipollini. Thus the nickname.

There is no hope for me. Is there only one last name that begins with Z? What is an indyfab?

What some people call Independent Fabrication bikes. I actually don't like that name, but I don't like picking user names only to find they are taken and figured that one wouldn't be taken.

Maybe I should change my name to "Enginz."

I have a long torso and short legs for my height, hence my first custom built bicycle rather than bought off an LBS floor stock last summer was a revelation and if I can help it any bicycles in my future will also be custom frames.

Mine has dual meaning. When I joined the forum I had just gotten back into cycling after a 30+ year layoff. I was mainly riding the local bike path at the time. Also, my life was changing quickly and dramatically, and I was "on the path" to a new life. Probably way more than anybody wanted to know, including the OP..
