Budnitz Model E with Fazua Evation Motor
Over the past two years I've kept an eye on the evolution of commuter e-bikes, watching the tech explode internationally, with slower progress in the U.S. of A.
Feeling hesitant to go to the expense and risk of ordering a European beauty like this Desiknio Pinion Classic | Desiknio Cycles I waited and waited some more.
Then I saw a week ago that Budnitz is updating its Model E with a new hydroformed aluminum frame and Fazua compact mid-drive motor: https://electrek.co/2019/07/01/budni...bicycle-fazua/ which checks off many of my required boxes:
I wish the 30 mile assisted range was longer, but my daily roundtrip is only 20 miles, so not a significant issue.
I pulled the trigger on the Model E order, delivery expected from Burlington Vermont sometime this Fall.

- Fairly lightweight
- Belt-drive with multi-gear IGH shifting
- 700c wheels and clearance for 38mm+ 4-row studded tires and fenders for winter riding
- Clean urban lines
- Rack and fender attachment braze-ons
