I no longer have a 2015 Fastroad SLR1. I now have a 2016 Fastroad CoMax 2.

I really liked my 2015 SLR1... with one big exception. The cables ratttled around on the inside of the frame tubes. My LBS could not fix it. Then the crank developed a clicking sound. Once again, my LBS could not fix it. Then it occured to me that I always wanted a bike with a composite frame.
There is nothing more pleasurable than a bike that has no issues, You can ride week in week out month in month out. But have a brake dragging, a seat not right or a clicking sound and it takes away the whole desire to ride.
I don't think I'll buy another Giant, not after my experiences with this one I just bought, not until one has been out for 2 or 3 years with no one complaining. We shouldn't be beta testers for new designs, the designs should be perfected before they hit the showroom, and they're Not!

Having said that I almost have mine to a level I can comfortably ride it as intended for long sprints, but I will be a lot more careful on my next purchase.

I hope you have better luck with the comax Rick.

The CoMax 2 has met all of my hopes, dreams, expectations and more. My story should validate why you want to do business with a Local Bike Shop. The owner of my LBS (Kip at Bike King in Inver Grove Heights) is a rock star. When I told him I wanted to exchange my SLR1 for the CoMax 2, he could have told me to take a flying leap. But we worked out a deal that worked well for me.

I currently ride a Cannondale Quick and usually ride 10 to 25 miles per ride with an average speed of 12.5mph. I' am looking at the Giant SLR1 and was wondering if that would make longer distances and faster speeds easier. Would the Giant alow me to keep up with the road bikes.

I just ordered a Fastroad SL 1 2019. I know 2020 is right around the corner, but got a good deal and love the red. I was first going for the Escape 1, then the Contend, but I like flatbar better. So Fastroad it is! I also upgraded the tires to 32, to give a bit more comfort. Should be here in about a week.

I too just got my 2019 SL1. Quite a bit faster, lighter than my Trek 8.4 DS and contrary to popular opinion, love the matte black finish.
