Haunting and beautiful music doesn't have to be complicated. This song is proof of that. It gives me shivers down my spine.

Probably my favorite off their debut album. Which reminds me...I need to listen to it again. I put it away for a while because Crystalised was EVERYWHERE on the radio. They were in Boston over the summer...but I missed it.

I'm currently in the middle of my yearly obsession with Okkervil River, when I decided to listen again to their entire catalogue.

Good Song. Freaky ass video.

Gsg, I liked that. Kinda reminded me of some stuff I've heard before but can't remember.

Now I kinda want to listen to the decemberists and neutral milk hotel.

Yeah, they have that kind of familiar sound, where a lot of their songs sound kind of like other songs, but not really. Their most recent album the Stand Ins was like that...

Every few months or so I need to sit down and listen to In the Aeroplane over the Sea to remind me that people who are bat**** crazy can make incredible music.

While we're at it: new Decemberists

The xx did a really cool remix of You've Got the Love.

Just to bring this most recent discussion full circle...

Been searching for this tune for a while, finally found out what it was yesterday. It samples pretty heavily from an old modern soul jam by Garfield Fleming but this is one of those times where the edit is much stronger than the original.

Been listening to a lot of hardcore gabber, DnB, and darkstep stuff to get my blood pulsing. It helps when I'm on the trainer or outside doing my 20mins and 30mins.

I could hear that influence in your new track. I actually was expecting it to bust into some drum & bass at a couple points.

More relaxed street-beat style.

Heard so much good stuff about Cudi's new album. Downloaded it and wasn't impressed. I've gave it a few listens though and it is slowly growing on me.

Had a table at a local record show yesterday. I wasn't planning to buy much (ya right) but I sold quite a few pieces so I indulged when one of the sellers let me have at his disco crates for 2 bucks a pop at the end of the day. Also picked a couple nice soul and jazz LP's for what seemed way under market value. In all I think I brought home like 25 pieces for around $40. Pretty stoked to give them a listen tonight (after my workout of course).

Not this time. I'm pretty covered for Zapp already. I got a pile of Prelude 12"s, a couple Salsoul promos and some boogie/modern soul tracks by artists I never heard of. Also a Jocelyn Brown single I'd been after, a Melba Moore LP and a Kashif produced Stacy Lattislaw track from '86 that is reallllly close to too much but still is great. Also a Carmen McRae on Mainstream that I'm pretty stoked about. Oh, and a Joe Tex LP on Atlantic that has like 2 good tracks then a bunch of hokey country soul (that guy had some of the worst lyric writers ever).
