Newbie looking to get into Road bike
Hi,
I'm an in shape 30 year old looking to get into cycling for cardio purposes. I'd like to learn as much as possible as this seems like a very fun hobby/lifestyle.

Your money and time might best be spent in the Classic and Vintage Forum where they appreciate speed, aesthetics, athletics, are older and often wiser and have been there and done that. Of course you'll see pics of the best bikes the 20th century had to offer. The bonus is that classic hand made bikes are inexpensive and don't compromise your workouts in the least. Introduce yourself there! And the group is extraordinarily polite and well behaved. Mensches.

Fun, better believe it. Learning as much as possible will consume you so the first bit of advice is ride more, research less. As a fit 30 something you'll likely veer towards the ultra light modern road cycling but it can be a prickly group.

Well, I exaggerate a little with the 'hand made' being inexpensive but generally classic steel alloy and even carbon production bikes can be sublime.
