Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

From the Viathon line? That'd be a smoking deal, if so.

Keep in mind that this is a bike that walmart sells, but it's not one of walmart's own bikes. Viathon is their upscale brand and they seem to be well-made bikes (though I'd want to assemble it myself).

Viathon R.1 Road Performance, Shimano 105 Components, Hydraulic Disc Brakes

-870-gram size 54 frame, with derailleur and water bottle mounting hardware

-Oversize tapered head tube and bottom bracket for precise handling and pedaling efficiency

-Pro-level performance at a fraction of the cost

-Shimano 105 components deliver affordable refinement

-Knight alloy wheels deliver speed and durability

-Internal cable routings reduce aerodynamic drag

-Zipp Service Course alloy bar and stem offer precision and strength

-Clearance for 28mm tires

For $1400 bucks, that sounds pretty impressive!

Not sure why the complete bike is $100 less than the frame alone, though.

Sold out in 105.
But not a bad option if the frame checks out. Looks like the front end is pretty stiff though.

2200 for a sub 17 lb bike isn't bad at all imho

If I had to guess, it’s because there has been some spec change between 2019 and 2020, so they can’t just rollover their current stock and rebadge it as 2020. EDIT: 2020 gets a 0 offset seatpost rather than a 20mm setback and Mavic wheels rather than Knight.

I would assume this is not the case for their framesets.

Crazy they have a $5,600 Dura Ace model. I cannot imagine they had to many takers on that one.

Woah, sounds like a really good deal. I guess they want to go for volume and profit of the current bike boom.

The internal cable routing really surprised me, many known brands with even more expensive models don't do this fully on all models.

That's not backward. It's a Lauf fork on a road bike. Essential for riding on the bumpy sidewalk to snag KOMs between joggers and dog walkers.
