I had a steel Trek, a 660 I bought new in 1988, I think. The frame broke around the bottom bracket @ 15K miles. Trek warranty covered it but they didn't have any steel bikes left and offered me an aluminum frame, I think a 1400. I declined so they gave me store credit and I got a very slightly used Landshark frame for $150 and the store switched the parts.

It was a nice bike, lightest steel frame I ever had but a wet noodle under my (at the time) 210 pounds. Tange Prestige tubing, 63cm and very comfortable it would flex all over when I stood up on it. I rode it for a year and sold it to a friend who is 170, or so. He rode it for 11 years and sold it to somebody else.
John Slawta of Landshark used to live near here and his shop was close to where I live. He came to our club meetings to speak and answer questions. Nice guy.
After the Landshark I bought a Tesch s-22. Stiffest ride ever. I rode it for 10 years and I got too old for it. I gave it to a friend who is 6"5" and around 250#. He doesn't ride much but it's the only bike he's ever been on that could handle his size and weight.

The second fall in 9/18 is what finally did her back in. That was 11 fractures including 3 vertebrae. Her spine is lumpy as heck but the orthos say there is nothing they can do - no surgeries, reconstruction, etc. Just this morning, she asked me to rub her back and it almost made me cry to feel the irregularities in her spine.
Poor girl went from 5k miles a year to ~800 miles a year and almost all is now on a tadpole trike.

To a point. The LandShark is generally in the Super Competition class, which has an 8.90 breakout. That means you can't go quicker than that time. The difference in that rail compared to others, is the wheelbase. Those are around 200 inches, give or take a foot or two, either way, compared to the full sized jobbies, that carry the full 300 inches. Trailering them, and storing them is the upside, along with maneuverability around the pits. The pro classes get all the help and space they need in the pits, and the sportsmen classes get the dirt and the cheap seats.
