One year. One bike. One song ~
OK. Last time I did one memory from the year of your bike.
This time, show a bike, and the year it was made, and a song from the same year.
Could be a song you liked at the time…if you were around then,
…or not.
I'll start
1975
This Motobecane Le Champion is a 1975 model
One of my favorite albums back then, and is still, was Little Feat's The Last Record Album.
And one of my favorite tunes from that album, Romance Dance

A nice bike Chombi. And a pretty good album. Dug out and have been listening to The Police lately, but mostly their first 3 albums. Saw them in a tiny club right after Outlandos d'amour came out, and when they were pretty much unknown here. Fantastic concert.

The year is 1978, and I'm a year out of HS working a dead-end job and I'm about to make the best decision of my life - joining the US Air Force.
The bike is a 1978 Colnago Super, which is easily the best bike I have ever owned and ridden.
And this is the gorgeous Joey Heatherton from 1978, who I was really in love with. What a stunner she was and she even had a little talent!
And this was the car I was driving, a 1973 Javelin AMX with a 401 CI engine. What a car!
And finally, the song. I remember sitting at Rockaway Beach listening to this summer song. It seemed to come on every time I went to the beach
Imaginary Lover, Atlanta Rhythm Section
I know you didn't ask for all of that, but what the heck, lets go down memory lane! Good times! Good times...

Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon". It was 1973 I was out of the Army and into college two years. I was driving a lowered yellow '56 Ford big back window pickup with a T Bird 312. I loved that truck!
I still have the copy of the album that I bought when it was first released and it's in great condition. I haven't played it much because I have it on reel to reel tape.
Gitane TdF. I'm pretty sure it's a '73.

I thought The Police seem to have come and gone way too quickly, especially as they broke up right after their biggest hits. I couldn't figure out how just three guys in a band could not keep it together. At least they got better and better with every album, unlike some other bands like Boston, who really disappointed many of their fans with LONG awaited albums that did not live up to the greatness of their previous ones.....

1976,
Sears Free Spirit "Bicentennial Edition,"
Rush's album 2112: "Passage to Bangkok."
1968 Chevrolet Impala 4D, 327 650 4-barrel w/dual exhaust.
A very pretty dark-haired girlfriend, right out of Seger's song.
On top of the world. Best December ever.
Within 30 days, I'd turned 18, left home, quit school, was "single," and enlisted in the Marines..
The Free Spirit sold for what I'd paid for it.
The album is still in my collection, but I'm sure I've worn out at least 2 cassettes of it.
The car was sold; a guy put the motor in his Camaro and blew it up on the dragstrip.
I haven't seen that girl since then, wouldn't even know where to look.

Little Feat are among the most tragically under appreciated bands.
The year was 1988, Ugo De Rosa released one of his most distinctive bicycle designs. These came at a serious premium, an unheard of $3000+ at the time.
At the same time that I was lusting for one of these, I watched a movie called Married to the Mob. The movie was forgettable, but what wasn't was the first time I heard the band that became among my very favorites during those formative teen years...The Pixies. The song was Isla De Encanta, from 1988's Surfer Rosa.

... also Leonard Cohen, "Hallelujah," which might describe our bike.

1973 Raleigh Super Course TT.
Not exactly sure what year this was released, but in 1973 I helped run sound for the concerts in the Field House at my Alma Mater. Then, after the party - we would party, and blast this tune through a stack of Phase Linear Model-700 350W power amps and enormous JBL cabs and horns. (Your clothes would ripple).
Could be why I have tinnitus today.

Great idea, RB. Alas, I cannot participate. Not only do I not remember when most any song came out, much of the pertinent time periods I am happy to have forgotten. And the rest I don't remember. I don't own a bike from when the Beach Boys' Good Vibrations came out. Nor any of the other great popular songs I do remember.

I'm surprised to hear that. Me and my friends in London, England at the beginning of the 70s listened to them a lot. I had 3 of their albums at one time and most of my friends had 1 or 2. Many a large cigarette was rolled on the covers...
