Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Yeah, that is one sweet looking operation! And Andy is a great salesman. I just ordered some FSA Omega Compact bars from them because of his video review.

You know what's crazy about this? There's barely a decent bike shop where I live, let alone one where you can demo bikes and "come by for a visit, maybe we'll go for a ride".

I'd love to leave NY.

Andy is a really good salesman.
Usually I hate marketing trickery, but I must say I have been impressed with the marketing Competitive Cyclist does.
It comes of as genuine (even though its marketing) and feels very comfortable.

Above all, they seem to have a real love for bikes and everything that goes into making them.

If it wasent for ebay giving better prices, I would most definitely shop at Competitive Cyclist.

Their office/space is really cool. You can tell that they put in some big investment for themselves and their employees. Very nice company to work for I would say.
I wish them all the success. We need more shops like this

Interesting how they've carved out a section of the market. Usually it's the LBS if you want the full treatment or online via dusty warehouse if you want cheap. Who would have thought you could do so well charging full MSRP while still selling predominantly over the internet?

I watched Andy's video review of the Campy 11-speed group many times, just to hear him say "de-rail-yer"! The full retail price thing will keep me from buying anything expensive there. It's just not in me to not get a discount!

Much of it has to do with their boutique-like approach that they've managed to deliver online. Yes, I could get cheaper deals through AEBike - but I prefer the shopping experience at CC and am willing to pay a premium for it

WTF are you talking about??? AEbike spews their marketing just like any other online retailer; they just have a much crappier website. If you want low prices, go to performance bike.

That is an impressive operation when you remember they are selling bikes and bike parts. Expensive ones, but parts and bikes anyway. If I am ever to be in the area, I would definitely visit. I have only bought one item from them in the past, and I knew full well it was overpriced compared to everywhere else. They were the only ones that had it in stock at the time though.

WTF are you talking about? Performance has some of the highest prices I've seen online for just about anything other than their own brands.

That bike shop reminds me of a lot of offices here in Chicago. My last job was setup just like that, except everything was a nasty green color

That's the point, genius. No one in their right mind buys anything besides the performance endorsed bikes.

Besides, seeing as how everything performance sells is always 15% off, their prices are almost always lower than AEbike's.

Lived in outside of Little Rock in 2005 and 2006. The CC group are great. They are very humble and truly mean it when they say come on by. I've spent countless hours at their shop, albeit these are new digs. They used to be right on the river, next to a great Cajun eatery. Now, I'd drive the 14 hours just to spend the day there again.
