Here is my dog, Waffle the greyhound, shot four years ago. She is now 14 years old and suffering badly. We are going to euthanize her tomorrow.

I had to make a run to the grocery this PM. Parked outside was an '89 Trek 950 in the intense blue of that year. The bike was pristine, like it just came from the LBS, but I had no camera and had left my phone at home.

Sorry to hear that, Tom.
I have a 17 &1/2 year old cat (from birth on my back porch), every day I wonder how much longer does he have.
Just proceed with love.

So sorry to hear about this, Tom (@noglider). You have my deepest sympathy. But if a greyhound goes to heaven, and gets her wings, just think how fast she will be then!

I shot this of our Shih Tzu, Bailey, two years ago:

"The Wudge" is the nickname we came up with, once we got to know him. Don't really know why.

He is nine years old now, and starting to slow down. Doesn't want to jump up on things anymore, or stand and beg like he used to. He gives out with a groan whenever I rub his back and leg muscles, and mushes his face into my belly. It's going to be really tough to see him go.

So we try to give him the best life we can while he's with us. That's all anyone can do. Rest in Peace, Waffle...

Thank you, folks. You gave me a nice laugh, @DQRider. We buried her yesterday, in the woods behind the barn, and I wailed. And I was just crying a minute ago before reading this post.

The river is wider than any other river, because it's not a river, it's a fjord. It's over a mile wide! The flow is always very weak, so there's no opportunity for hydroelectric power.

Thank you. Waffle was a very special soul. She was the gentlest dog anyone had ever met. She had an uncanny ability to calm down people and dogs and even cats. Dog owners noticed that their dogs calmed down in her presence. Cats who didn't like dogs would walk up to Waffle.

I know exactly how you must have felt. Our Bassett Hound, Connie was a family member for a bit over 14 years. It was just a few days before Christmas several years ago when my wife and I realized we had to do the right thing by Connie. Rough day!

Liberty Call - Korea - 1988

I wish I could tell the whole story of this photo, but it would take up too much space.
But having just celebrated Veteran's Day, and the Marine Corps Birthday the day before that, I thought this would be appropriate here.

Operation Team Spirit, near the DMZ, South Korea, 1988

The Army National Guard SSGT on the left was just getting off duty. The Marine Cpl. on the right had just ridden a bus ~300 miles to go on liberty with him. That's my Dad and I at Camp Long, South Korea. We had 96 hours together - and we didn't waste a moment of it. Best. Liberty. Ever!
