also, do you think the 100 is enough for daytime running or should I spring for the 150?
It's been great so far. I was using the hotrod 50 before and this hotshot 100 is quite an improvement. My lady doesn't like riding behind me now...

I haven't experienced anything negative with the clip. The light itself is very, very light and I don't see it causing the clip to break. Just don't man-handle it when installing and removing the light. I've tried it with the sestpost mount as well as the seat stay mount and it performed well. Definitely exceeds my expectations. Great price, too.

Truth be told, my current Giro is a bit too big on me. I erred on the side of sizing up since I was at the edge of the measurement of the medium. Also I may be over the fluorescent accents on my Atmos II.

Frame is on back-order for like two months, but no worries because I need to acquire more parts anyway.

I've been commuting on my Felt in the dark so I bought some new lights. I lost the charger for my Blackburn Flea and lost my old planetbike turbo tail.

My local LBS said the Cateye Volt 200XC has been a big hit and would do everything I need it to. My commute has lots of street lights so I just needed something to make myself more visible. And of course the Turbo Super Flash was a no brainer. Owned one before and loved it.

Go to your LBS and they can order you one if they don't have one. Most shops are likely to have an account with QBP the mothership of Surly.

They are 3/32" chain compatible only, FYI. They are pretty neat. White Industries makes dingle speed chainrings and a freewheel if you are into the whole dingle speed thing. If you built up a single speed 135 spaced frame with a 135 spaced front fork you could build something pretty crazy with a ton of gearing. I have considered building up something like that as an emergency get out of town vehicle.

It will be a pretty aggressive gravel bike.

The plan is to do Ultegra Di2 hydro, carbon bar/post/stem, etc.

Haha I just got done reading your thread in the recreational CX/gravel forum. Glad to see you settled on a frame. That geometry still looks pretty slack compared to road race bikes, but I think that's a necessary evil for rough roads. Keep us updated on the build! should be sick when you're all done.

That was a great thread. I learned a lot.

Bikes like the Salsa Warbird, Davinci Hachet and many others are really slack. I wanted to stay away from that and narrowed down the field to three bikes...

Jamis Renegade Elite
Ridley X-Trail Carbon
Niner RLT 9 RDO 4 Star

These don't have the geometry of a fast road bike but are about as aggressive as a gravel specific design gets. To get any racier you have to go to an adapted CX bike.

Refurbing a $20 thrift store Huffy MTBSO. Tonight I ordered a set of Sunlite alloy caliper brakes with levers and cables, and a set of Sunrace friction shifters, both from Amazon.
