Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Stay on Your Side (AKA Hit By Cager)

So I am out riding this afternoon and I am coming to a stop sign at which I stop (right beside the stop sign to be exact). There is a car approaching from my right to turn left. They have right of way and proceed to take a short left turn.....right toward me. The driver (an old lady about 80 yo with no teeth) slams on the brakes and turns the wheel at the last second and ends up just smacking me on the arm with her rear view. Scared the crap out of me (figuratively). I stammered for a second and then let loose verbally (which I kinda felt bad about later). I said "Jesus F*&^ing Christ lady, what are you doing?!? It's dangerous enough for me on my side of the road so please stay on yours!!!"

I guess I got off lucky. She could have not seen me at the last second.

Damn,

Glad you are ok.

Pretty bad when you are just sitting there and still they manage to clip you.

Had a similar experience this afternoon. Riding in Hartville, Ohio and coming up to the light which was
red for me. There were three lanes at this point, right turn, straight through and left turn lane.
I am coming up to the red light in the left turn lane, and around the corner comes a big SUV
and driver makes her left turn into my left lane. I yelled what the f--k are you doing. She swung out to my right and into the center lane, shot around me and was off. She looked scared to death when she went by me, hope she learned something from her experience.

Glad that you're OK. Don't feel bad about yelling at her - maybe you gave her the wakeup call that she should be more aware before she kills someone.
