Did the last long ride before next weekend's century. Spent the first part of the holiday weekend wrenching on a bunch if stuff. Not too keen on making so many changes befor a big ride, but the schedule has been packed this year.
Replaced tires, shift cables, wheel bearings, and lubed everything. I also tracked down a ticking noise from the rear wheel that had been bugging me all season. Turned out to be two spokes rubbing at the crossover point. I tied them with some fine wire and that got rid of it. It was pretty loud and would have made me nuts over 100 miles.
Rode 55 miles up to Lake Bluff at a "relaxed" pace. Only had adjust the cable for the RD to get everything shifting smooth. Tested the low gears under load on one of the ravine hills. No skips or jumps.
Only took one pic by a bbq. I was hoping for some waterfront shots, but all the beaches are still restricted.

Been a crazy summer with very little posting here and inconsistent saddle time on the road. Got out today for a gravel "time trial" after yesterday's harder ride as I try to get myself back into some kind of fitness shape. Decided to take the Trek 950 drop bar conversion onto the Iron Horse trail and have a casual ride. Nope, I have a mental problem. Saw a rider ahead of me going at a decent pace and
"had" to catch up and pass him. Then, of course, I had to stay in front. At my turn around point I saw him turn around a half mile ahead of me. Crud - gotta do it all over again. I sometimes hate my competitive brain. So, it ended up as a 16 mile or so time trial on 2.1" knobbies and a gravel trail. That said, I did get off at least once for a photo.

@scozim, that sounds familiar...
Yesterday morning a buddy and I rode out to meet in the middle then head to his place for BBQ with a few other friends. Temps were nice and cool for this time of year, the wind made sure we didn't get too comfortable.
The rice crispy treat strapped on in the first pic had met its fate at this point.

Just local rides lately, for 3/4 hours at a time. Today I headed out on the Medici for a change and hit a trail I've never been on before: the Cross Kirkland Corridor, which is a finely-ground gravel trail through Kirkland that links up to Bellevue. Tough climbing today, tho - lots of up/down on today's loop. But I'm below 200lbs for the first time this summer, so the suffering is paying off

Did a quick ride after work to the Lloyd St. boat launch. Getting dark around 7:15 these days.
Lake looks very "Fall" - cold/dark/blue
Got all the repairs sorted out, except for new bar tape.
Evidence of "high seas" on the pier.
The lake was pretty riled up - NE wind was pushing up 6-foot waves.

10.5 miles, mid 90s heat, up thru Porter Ranch (remember big the natural gas leak?). I needed to go to the bank, then went home the long way on the '78 Peugeot PR10. I've been tweaking the Simplex rear derailleur, and raised the Campy aero brake levers about 1/2". Much better fit, and a joy to ride now. I found some nice flowers along Rinaldi, and stopped for a picture.

23 miles last night on my fixed gear Motobecane.
This bike feels like it's come in to its own with a fixed gear drivetrain. Just a joy to ride.
Rode around the local state park and then down a bike path to surprise my wife at work, which since it was a very slow night in retail was a nice little visit.

My first out-of-town ride as a newly unemployed person: Keechelus Lake just east of Snoqualmie Pass. Dead-flat rail trail, but technically still gravel grinding. And Quite scenic.
Then down the road to Roslyn, WA, the real town that's the setting for the fictional town of Cicely, AK, in the old Northern Exposure TV show. Exterior of The Brick tavern, then interior with an IPA and some pepperoni from Garek's Market from across town.
Roslyn even has a nice little bike shop, which I think does mostly rentals (there's a lot of good MTB terrain around here. Since it was across the street from The Brick, I popped in and bought a couple tubes for my Nishiki, despite the small-town upcharge. Gotta have a couple of spares for Cino 2019, which is where I'm headed next!

Solo 40 miles up San Gabriel trail into Santa Fe Dam and turn around at the Azusa Wilderness Park. Steady pace at 3 hours with breaks. Good run today.

14 miles on my Schwinn Passage on a hot day in the Dallas area.
I am so looking forward to cooler temps in the fall.
The Passage is one nice riding bike , similar to the Voyageur. However it has a hi-ten fork where the Voyageur has a cro-mo fork.

I've been trying to increase my hill riding to get in shape for a hilly ride coming up in SW Wisconsin. It's not easy finding hills in central Iowa. I did a bunch of hill repeats (the best hill is a climb up to a dam that has a section with a 10 percent grade, called, not surprisingly, the dam hill, and rode the local trail heading north out of Des Moines (the Neal Smith trail). It's a fine trail with a fair amount of rolling climbs, good tree cover, tall grass restoration, and good water views. Got in 35 miles today with 2,000 ft of climbing on my 70s Fuji Finest that I finished restoring a few weeks ago.

Rode a 200K brevet with the Great Lakes Randonneurs today.
I was a little nervous at the start since the longest ride I had done this year was only 70 miles, but I decided to just go for it.
Turns out today was a perfect day for a long ride, and especially suited to this ride. We rode the below route counter clockwise and winds were out of the west/northwest all day.
Having a tailwind at the very end of your ride is such a huge blessing.
I rode my 650b conversion Trek 716. It was really a super nice day on a bike.

I had a good mtb ride today. I started at a place in town that has nice rolling trails, if not a bit crowded. Thankfully there are enough empty offshoots to keep things interesting and solo for a while. Exploring new trails led to a nice hike with the bike for a bit, then back home. I'd have a tough time guessing miles and elevation, but it was 4 hours in the hills.

Frustrating day today, no pics. I have a long gravel ride (Susquehanna Unpaved) planned with a friend next month and set up my Ciöcc as one of two bikes to use for it. Wanted to do about 20 miles of gravel in Albemarle County today to test it out, but got flat #1 0.71 miles into the first pitch of gravel, flat #2 3 miles later. Decided the tire gods weren’t with me today, so turned around to head back and got flat #3 on the 15% descent heading back. I couldn’t find the hole to patch, so walked about a mile along the remaining gravel and rode the flat the 3 miles back to the car.
At any rate, weather was nice; I didn’t get rained on, and I had a nice walk in the country.
