Vintage Campagnolo Super Record Gruppo

I wonder if I could also get Columbus to re-introduce the Cinelli Supercorsa using old SLX tubing with a relaxed 72/3 degree geometry along with their Cinelli Campione del Mondo bars and XA quill stem....and Alfredo Binda (Extra) laminated toe straps....and old cork bar tape (not splatter)? A relatively simple request don't you think?

I've seen a couple of these. Neat and tidy. Vertical drops are not the worst variation. You could ask about the 72/73. Got to be super low production and they might accomodate

There were a number of parts that were often found on Campy equipped bikes, Phil BBs and hubs were a couple of examples. My race bikes sported Super Record drivetrains with Simplex shifters. They were so good that they even replaced the Syncro set ups we were given later on. When Ergo came out I carried a RH Simplex shifter and a cable in my seat bag for two seasons on training rides because I was convinced it was gonna fail
Dia Compe aero levers were another mix and match part on racing bikes of the era.

(How's that for mixed descriptives?)

I think I would buy into a renewed issue of the 1984 models. SR for me always included some black paint on it, and if not it was just NR. I just got an 88 team model that was a mish-mash of parts but they all worked well together. Campy BB and cranks, rear deraileur, Durace hubs and brake levers, Modolo calipers, and 105 front deraileur. I always liked (and still do) the way the Campy stuff fit nicely on the frame and was for some reason always the lightest and most durable for the time. I still have it on seven of my race bikes from the 80's. So yes I would buy one, but heck, I also bought a 50th grupo back then, and then sold it to my room-mate who would pull it out every night and drool over it. Smiles, MH

Hahaha, perhaps I need one of those special DeLorean's as I seem to be living too much in the past.

Yeah, that's a good start. I've seen these frames before and I've always wondered about the rear derailleur dropout spacing along with the frame angles? Now Cinelli needs to re-produce all the other 80's iconic stuff.

I would most likely NOT buy a Campy SR reissued Gruppo because they will most likely sell it For some god awful high price as they will also most likely call it some sort of "Commemorative Gruppo". Plus there are still lots if old SR components in NOS and VG used condition SR components still available to buy out there, and sometimes in reasonable enough prices, if you look around enough.

Hmmm when i look at colnago what they have done to the master and arabesque i guess T-Mar has a point.
It mostlikely will be all marketing bs and loads of $
So no not the groupset, but yes the wearable parts if they are reasonably priced that is, but knowing campy ... i fear the worst
Just my 2 cents

Just assembled a Trek 170 with Super Record, was courius if it would shift 10 cogs. Used a 10 speed chain no problem covering 10 Shimano cogs or 6 Suntour Ultra 42/52 up front with regular Super Record shifters. Shifts great no problems with the chain landing between rings runs smooth and silent.

Since this thread got resurrected, I'm going to put in my 2 cents.... There's enough SR around... Except for the unobtanium ti hub axles. This time, make them right, dammit. I still haven't gotten my hands on a titanium rear 120 or 126 axle for my record hubs. I may never get my Campy weenie-wheels finished...

Doubt if it will be commercially logical for Campy to bring the SR or NR gruppos cause they made millions of them back in the 70's through 80's and they are still available used or NOS in enough numbers to satisfy the market.
