The plus bikes are faster in a lot of situations than the regular 27.5" bikes, and it's like riding on a cloud. I wouldn't be surprised if your pressures were in the single digits on those.
The bike I rode (C'Dale Bad Habit) was pretty cool, but I need to ride a bunch more before I make my decision.

Got a flat today (second ever), which I have used as an excuse to buy new tires. Went for the Corsas G+ in 28mm (because it was cheaper, would probably have taken the 25s otherwise) + latex tubes (because I've heard that's what the pros use.) I'm expecting an increase on average speed of at least 2mph.

Nice puppies everybody! And nice artwork, Stoney.
Lol, @LAJ, hillclimb TT right after vacation- sounds like something I would do. Remember when I went to Greece for 2 weeks, zero riding, spent 24 hours traveling home, got 8 hours sleep and then got up the next morning at 7am to try some climbing repeats at Mt Pinos in altitude, only to find myself lying on the shoulder of the road resting with my head on a rock? Fun times.
Speaking of which, very fun and productive fit session today.
Several TT related issues that I wanted to hash out and also to have fitter check out the wedges. He loves them! Exactly what he hoped for. He just consulted with Tony Martin on his new hand position on his TT bike and his came out just like mine! Hahaha that part was funny. I am in some way just like Tony Martin now.
Everything else that I had on the agenda was really to the point that we need to do some aerotesting to know. One of the items was my head position- aerodynamically, I know lower should be faster. But every time I get my head lower, my power drops instantly by 15-20%. I assumed that I was doing something wrong or maybe we needed to change something- go wider on the arms to flatten out my shoulders or move the saddle forward or something. He thinks not, I just need to aerotest to find out, some people (even prominent women world champion pros he has fit (who I maybe shouldn't name)) just turn out to be slower when their head is lower. If I'm one of those people, then it might be faster to go even narrower in the front. The problem with this is that it affects steering, so it usually tests slower out on the track, because you haven't had time to adapt to the steering. What he *really* needs is someone to be that test subject who gets aerotested, then put into the narrowest possible position in the front, then rides like that for a month, then once adapted to the new position, comes back to be aerotested again. Then they could write up a little case study and see if this is something worth looking into for more people. What's my race schedule like, do I have a little gap coming up? Well, just so happens that I do... We'll see though, there is a lot of schedules to mesh to make this work- his schedule, my schedule and the track's schedule. But it will be cool if we can do it...
And I have the mountain bike shopping list....

Oh yeah and while I was with fitter, Bobby Lea pops his head in with a quick question- he has also been aerotesting this week with my fitter. So of course I get introduced and now this is the second member of the current US Olympic cycling team that I have met in the past two months- Sara Hammer being the other one.
And the women's pursuit bikes- the fancy Felts that we talked about a while back- are just testing really really fast. Felt is going to make 7 or 8 of them for $26,000. But they will come with multiple wheelsets and cranks and all your cogs and every size chain ring. Plus your aero testing, both before and after. You need the "before" testing because the bars are custom molded to your position. I'm actually surprised that the bike is only $26k, it comes with a lot of stuff. I think they'll actually sell them too, since Master's track worlds are going to be in LA next year.

I need to get my ass into the basement and shave some more pounds off the Walmart 27.5+
Still got cranks/BB to swap in.
Saddle/Seatpost (still need shim to do seatpost, but saddle needs to go ASAP cuz 60 miles on the stock saddle got a little hurty about 35 miles in.)
And the funnest part, rear rim drillium!

What a great day to come:
Early morning ride (done)
F1 (done)
TdF
Wimbledon
UEFA finals
Might try to squeeze in a run too, depending on what's consumed during UEFA...

I thought the 32 hole hub on a 36 hole rim thread had promise but there's not much action. Maybe it's because of the weekend?

I got nothing. Did a short breakfast ride with my wife this morning. She dropped me.

I rode down to the Kum & Go for drinks and snacks and only had to stop once because the wind was gusting so strongly it was pushing me and the bike backwards. (Also, the wind blew my bike over when I was in the store.) While I was stopped, I saw a familiar face and called across the road, very much surprising LoP who was riding around playing Pokemon Go and didn't know I was out riding too. I have discovered that playing music on my phone- no headphones- distracts the part of my brain that's overthinking my riding and helps me get a cadence going.
I always forget I'm on the bike and buy too much crap there and today I had to wrap the bag around my hand to keep it from blowing around too much. So, there I was going down the road with my hot dogs and chips, hauling a 32 ounce cup in my bottle cage, singing along with Kylie Minogue and Cher. Too much fun.
