Seasons Greetings--+OT
I always get the chance to wish you all a Happy Christmas about 6 hours before any of you have the chance but I am going to bed early tonight. Early start in the morning so I can be round at Fernes House (The GD) to see her face when she sees what Santa's Elfs have made for her.
Taken all my "Spare" wood and the garage needs a bomb to hit it just so I can get into it but it has taken about 4 weeks of spare evenings to make and I do not want to see another bit of wood that needs sanding again.
Boxing Day--26th. December- and I will be getting a ride in. Brother in Law is coming to a local town on one of his Car Rallys so another early start in the cold and the wet and the rain just so I can scrounge a breakfast out of him.
So have a Merry Christmas and don't ride the bike after Christmas dinner. Early morning rides are better.

That is one fine piece of craftmanship! Nicey done indeed.
I'm working tonight and am due to get home around dawn. I assume that after gift exchanges this old feller is gonna lumber up to his bed for some Christmas sleep. I just hope I don't miss the whole day!!
Enjoy your Holidays!!!

This is adorable! I'm sure the granddaughter will spend many happy hours playing with it.
I doubt there will be any riding around here as it's supposed to snow tonight and it's been too cold for me to ride.....it needs to get above freezing!

Good joint effort on the Kitchen. Wife for the painting- Son-in-law for the design, impetus and assembly and me for the materials-Tools and basic cutting.
But it was worth it. Had a whole day of peace and quiet except for having (Pretend) cakes and cups of tea and helping with the washing up. Except that most of her presents were bought for the kitchen. We now need an extension for the saucepans and crockery that the uncles and aunts bought.

It is too late to wish you Merry Christmas, but I can still send my wishes that you will have an enjoyable Boxing Day and a Happy New Year. I had a very pleasurable 25 mi ride on boxing Day.
Very nice Christmas gift. It is more special because it was a significant accomplishment.
I assume you will have pie after your ride. Do yo get an extra slice on Boxing Day?

BTW - Merry Christmas and Happy Boxing Day to you, Doug.
Your masterpiece gift for Ferne reminds me of the electric shooting gallery and drawing desk my grandfather made for my brother and me for Christmas one year. The shooting gallery was several feet long and included small metal animals that passed through the large opening on a belt. We shot them with a BB gun. The drawing desk was similar in style to the old-time school desk (with the desktop attached to the chair) but larger and included a roll of drawing paper inside the desktop with a slit at the top through which the paper passed. I often wonder whatever happened to those over the years.

My Dad is a master craftsman having worked as a finish carpenter all his life. The most treasured posessions any of our family members have are the things he made for us with his own hands. (Roll top desks among other stuff.)
You've created a treasure bound to become an heirloom. Well done.

No ride down to see my brother-in-law. Too much ice about and too damn cold. But I did get down to see him. Seems like the others on this run were not impressed with the weather either. But a couple of pics of the cars.
You will know the American ones but the B-I-L'sFord Anglia is now a V8. Handles like a pig and has no heater. (Heaters were extra when these were made and it will be difficult and pointless to fit on a car that is normally only used in the summer)
And the Kitchen was a hit

Not a car I Know and in Fact I thought it was a Funny way of spelling "Chevette"---A completely different class of car. It was Cold and I think the low numbers were due to the "Possibility" of Ice on the roads. Big Engines and Fat tyres are not the best items for keeping a car on the road so I think the others were not taking a chance.
But sorry to the "Petrolheads" but these cars had no fascination or interest for me. The modified ones had ruined what is basically a "Classic" car and the Big ones were just money.

Although I am a Chemical Engineer I love mechanical things. I really enjoy all the mechanical aspects of a bicycle. Automobiles were what piqued my interest in mechanical issues.
