It's rather irritating, given that the same models from the last three years looked outstanding.

Then... This comes out. Buy Giant Escape 1 2016 - Hybrid Sports Bike at Tredz Bikes. £499.00 with free UK delivery

How boring is that? Is there a proper way to paint maybe some blood red stripes along the frame? Or change the Giant logo color to silver?

Also... Thanks to you guys pointing the Escape 1 out as it fits under my $700 budget, and seems to have great components. I would try to find a 2015 model although most stores around do not stock these anymore and moved on to 2016.

You can change the grips, seat, cables housings, to something different if you'd like. Probably find colored graphics you can replace as well. I added some red reflective tape to mine, all white specialized sirrus, to make it not look so bland.

Spray paint it flat black.

I did that to a white bike.

No doubt there would be many motorcycle shops that could do a full custom paint job for you.

Water transfer decals are also a big thing. You could even turn your Giant into a full Carbon Fiber bike by simply adding $20 worth of decals

You can dress it up some automotive pin striping.

Go places, and get stickers at each destination, apply:

I saw nothing ugly on that bike at the original post.

Pin striping tape is cheap and readily available at any auto parts store.
