Touching someone else on the rear end isn't flirting. It's assault.

Good stuff. Assault?
Even when they are only doing it to touch and admire your fashionable summer or winter base layers?

I was road cycling at Big Bend NP I was at the end of my route putting up my bike etc etc. These nice looking coeds were there one told me I was cute you remind me of my dad My ego was inflated then instantly deflated. I was 48 at the time and I still feel young even today but that day I wanted to cry On the bright side my motivation to keep riding got some reinforcement.

Actually accordingly to op the woman asked permission. That seems to be appropriate behavior even in 2018? Maybe not .... someone would be offended.....❄️

There is a double standard as we've all seen. A woman can show off her private parts all the day long and anywhere now but if a man shows any of his he's charged with indecent exposure. I wish we were back in the older days where men were able to be men and women could be women. I think women have too much power these days personally, and have abused it.

exactly. a catcall without a significant systemic power imbalance is just a catcall. quite another thing for women.

Yeah, things certainly have gone to hell since they ratified the 19th Amendment.

The only appropriate answer is clear ... you can if I can.

If you don't understand the difference that makes you part of the problem.

Made my week.
I got a shock a few years ago in a group ride. I was slowly gaining on a group of 3 women who were pushing pretty hard. Let's just say the view was pretty good, so I pushed harder to close the gap. As I passed them it became apparent that they were all at least 6 months pregnant. I felt a little guilty but a lot impressed.

i can can only guess she thought I was far younger than I am. I suspect she was very disappointed when they did go past.

Remember that declaration the next time you hear the assertion that man and women are equal..

I don't understand what you mean by "The problem."

What, exactly, is the problem, as you see it?

Again, not trying to challenge. I'm just trying to understand how others see the issue, that's all.

This is a big topic so I will only make a few points. As a man, do you consider what you are going to wear and where you are going to minimize your chances of being assaulted? Do you tend to go out with at least one other guy friend for safety reasons. If a female stranger keeps looking at you in a social situation and then approaches you when you are alone is your first thought about your safety? If your teenage daughter is going to a party, is your list of concerns and advice the exact same as when your teenage son does the same thing?

My guess is no. If you don't see that there is a difference in how men and women perceive these types of situations then I feel bad for the women in your life.

Just saying that we should treat men and women exactly the same and expect the same feactions is naieve and being intentionally obtuse.

And before you point out exceptions to these general statements save your breath. Of course there are going to be individual differences.. Exceptions don't disprove the rule.

I'm trying to have a conversation, not an argument.

I still don't understand what "the problem" is but I appreciate your having responded.
