Hello,
I asked about:
Specialized Rockhopper
Kona Fire Mountain
Trek 4500
in my mountain bikes for $500 thread
So i went down to the store and looked at all their very very nice bikes(First time i've ever been in a real bike store )
They were sold out of the rockhoppers, and i got the impression it would be somewhat costly for me to have one specially ordered in
So he showed me a bike that one of their friends won in a competition, but doesnt need/want, so they're selling it for him, no warranty or in store deals or anything though
for $700cdn($530usd) it's an Ironhorse Rogue
Manufacturer: Iron Horse
Fork: Rock Shox Judy SL U-Turn
Front Derail: Shimano Deore
Rear Derail: Shimano XT
Shifters: Shimano Deore
Rims: Speed Disc
Brakes: Hayes HFX9-XC 6
Tires: WTB Weirwolf 2.1
Seat: WTB Speed V Comp
Seatpost: Alloy 30.4mm
Grips: WTB
Pedals: WPD-M919
Crankset: Truvativ Five D ISIS
It's a 19.5" frame, which i think might be alittle big for me though, i'm 5'8" 190-195 and plan on using this bike for XC/trails/commuting
I'll be doing like 1/2 urban riding and doing bunny hops/catwalks/'hucking' eventually
And the 1/2 will be on the trails
If there's a bike I should be looking at plz do suggest (yes i've read the $500 mtn bike thread several times)
What do you guys think? :\
Thanks for the help

hello
Why would a bike shop try to sell you a bike which obviously seems too large for you?....regardless if it's their own or under consignment.... I'm 5'8" and all my mtb frames have been no larger than 16" center to top of top tube.

Go to a different bike shop. They should be able to get the 05 rockhopper, we have had them for about 3 weeks now. That frame size is way too big for you, unless you like hurt junk dont get a frame that is too big for you.

Ya don't get a bike that is too big for you, and we are assuming this because of your said height. now i could be wrong and you could have monstrously long legs and an incredibly short torso, if that is the case then go for it, but otherwise stay clear. Im 5'11" and i rode a 17" bike until i switched over to my P.3, and it fit me great, so for you I would advise to check out other shops in your area for a bike that fits you.

It appears to me that your LBS guy was more interested in moving stock than satisfying his customers. A 19.5" frame is very likely way too big for you (I say "very likely" because I know that a2psyklnut is going to come in here and say that it is inseam, not height that is important. But chances are, if you're a regularly built 5'8" person then you should be looking in the 17.5" and under size range).
