Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Sing me the Campy Electric

Hopefully this Italian effort at 21st century velo tech works better than the Sidi electronic insoles that were so badly engineered the company yanked them off the market.

Velonews photos of the new Campy prototype electronic groupset, to be tested in the pro peloton in 2011.

Campagnolo electric prototypes have been in the pro-peloton since early 2009.

Cool nonetheless.

I'm a Campy guy, and still not interested in an electronic groupset. That said, I hope it works like it should.

I refuse to see how this is ghetto.

Pcad, I appreciate the post as I am a Campy fanboy. I was just pointing out that Campagnolo has been developing this for years, ironing out kinks.

It just looks so tacky.

And what's up with a thumb "paddle" when it's electric?

The Japanese got it right on this one...

That's a bit like the pot calling the kettle black.

I personally think everything ever out of the Shimano factory looks tacky. To each their own.

They should have contacted Pcad to do the CAMPY Tech Labdecals--what is this, amateur night at the LBS?

Seriously though, have you seen the decals? If they just paid Pcad with some Bora 2's or even a twin-pack of tires, he could have done a better job.

All they had to do was slap on gold, holographic decals, that say something like "CTL", with the classic Campagnolo "C".

How much did they pay to come up with the squarishly-purple CAMPY Tech Lab™?

I like how the decals are your only point about the entire thing.

Fine, I concede. You win the internet badass of the year award. Congratulations. I'm going to go on a nice mountain bike loop with some friends. Have fun at your computer.

All that extra weight, just to save a little inconsequential effort? Ridiculous! What does Soloist think?

Longer than that. They were testing ten speed electric groups before the push to go to eleven speed.

Cycling Weekly had a write-up of a test-ride in like 2007.

I'd like to see an in-real-life FSA groupset...
