Wish I got on this site earlier, or at least saw this thread! Excited to set a goal for next month, I am shooting for 250 miles.

Right now (and I just got a computer) but I am at 65 officially, but with the pre-computer rides I am at 104 total. One ride was 53.7 miles.

7/4: 2,800' / 38.5 mi - Strava doesn't have all the data - I mistakenly left my garmin paused for several miles. full route here
7/6: 419' / 14.1 mi - Los Gatos Creek Trail with my wife
7/6: 680' / 6.0 mi - Old Calaveras climb to Sandy Wool lake
07/12: 240' / 21.9 mi - Commute
07/13: 120' / 19.4 mi - Commute
07/15: 100' / 3.5 mi
07/16: 140' / 12.8 mi - 1/2 Commute w/ Lunch ride
07/22: 80' / 5.0 mi - Ride with nephew
07/23: 549' / 27.5 mi - Commute + Lunch

Goal: 200 mi / 7,000'
MTD: 150.4 mi / 5,128'

Way behind schedule. Not sure I'll make my goals this month. Other priorities have been getting in the way. I have a feeling the only rides I'll get in for the rest of the month will be commutes.

Best month ever. Had a flat tire Friday and the bugs attacked me in full force while I put a tube in. Legs swelled up and ran a mild fever for 3 days. Still a little achy this morning but it was 83 degrees @ 8:00 am and wanted to get a few miles in. I'll probably be a slacker this last week as I've already exceeded my goal of 560 miles.

I set a 325 mile goal for the month of July. Right now I am 71% complete (231 miles) with not too many days left with only 7 days left so this will come down to the wire!

New lease of life - the weather is nice, the constant punctures have finished for the moment, it's all good!

200 is the aim for this month, I'll have a slow ride out on Wednesday or Thursday and probably reach the goal and then say "can I do 250?"

So what was the problem on the 8th and the 14th?

Maybe you didn't make it all the way to Richmond, but 131 miles in a single ride is no failure in my book. I didn't even attempt RAIN. I figured even if I had I'd probably have bailed once we were in Indy. And then worry about retrieving the car.

Thanks Craig, but I would also have preferred bailing around Indy than to make it within 29 miles of the end. In the end, I screwed up the nutrition part of it and started seriously cramping right after the last rest stop. I'll be smarter next year.

There is nothing wrong with failing! That it serves as a learning tool for a future ride helps. Sounds like you know what went wrong and can fix it for next time. I think you should hold your head up!

Spin out to see a friend. First 12 miles or so was slow due to traffic, then I realised I needed to ramp up the speed to avoid being late. It hurt a bit in places but got me there on time. Then the journey back was good until the last 7-8 miles when I started getting cramps. Still more water needed, I thought I'd taken on enough water. Oh well...

July 13 - 5 miles
