Right Part Wrong Color Should I keep it .

Ok so I ordered a 34t 7 speed Sunrace freewheel on eBay because Universal in Portland was out of the IRD freewheel I wanted. The photo in the eBay ad clearly depicts a silver or polished freewheel but what I received this morning is black not silver. Same gearing etc, but it was a $20 freewheel . Should I just keep it or demand a refund because I was expecting something different . Functionally there’s not gonna be a difference other than I do not think the black freewheel will look good on my Grand Jubile

Kinda the way I am leaning Top , unfortunately for me the seller is probably gonna make this hard , because he has a 97% satisfaction rate and the negatives he does have tends to indicate what happened to me is not entirely uncommon, there is more than one comment "not as described" I have sent a message addressing my concerns whether or not they respond will be another matter entirely .

This same thing has happened to me two or three times over the years. The last time was just a month or so ago. Basic black isn't a problem, but the ones they shipped instead had that horrible, bright writing on the big cog. So I wrote the ebay seller, and after a few messages, they sent a shiny one. They didn't have a shiny sunrace in stock, so sent a Dimension branded one instead for no additional charge. Worked for me. It was for a flip, anyway. But my flips have to meet a certain standard. I kept the original as it wasn't feasible for either of us to pay return shipping.

In this case it was a Sunrace just not the one they showed in the ad, they showed a silver one and shipped the black instead. In other respects though it was the right freewheel, just not the right finish. and yes this has that bright white lettering on the large cog.

Give the seller a chance to make it right. If he can't or won't, open an Ebay complaint indicating that the item is "not as described". You will win the disagreement, pretty darn near every time. That said...

For twenty dollars, I might be willing to leave negative feedback and just keep the darn thing. And black won't look good on a Jubilee. Perhaps, but I like what it did for mine...

I know all about it.

You now gotta message the seller to ensure the Sunrace freewheel is as pictured. But this has been happening for years.

I do agree with you that IRD should be your first choice in a new freewheel ... for a keeper.

This. Open an INAD case.

Make sure sellers know that we're sick of misleading stock images.

For a $20 freewheel- take a Sharpie- color in the writing on the cog. Ride it and forget it.

I went through a big pain in the ass about a REALLY poorly made IRD Defiant freewheel.

I would ask the seller to send me what I paid for. This isn't exactly rocket surgery. He made an easily avoidable mistake, or a deliberate bait and switch, hoping you wouldn't notice or mind the difference.

If he wants me to send back the random sh*t he actually sent me, he needs to pay the postage for that.
