Need Route help: Corona - Ladera Ranch

Need some help on a new route from Corona to Ladera Ranch? Going for a bday bar-b-q tomorrow and have about a 3 hours window to get there. What do you think is faster? River trail to PCH, to Crown Valley and across (done this one many times) or make my way thru anaheim hills, Santiago Canyon to Live Oak to Antonio Parkway? I've never ridden Santiago, Live Oak or Antonio before? I've heard it's rolling terrain, so will the hills offset the shorter mileage vs. hammering across the river trail?

Does someone have a better route to suggest?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Neither

Live Oak is a pretty healthy pair of climbs, and Santiago Canyon isn't trivial. (But if you go that way, you'll see our most severe ride going that way, including the assault of Modjeska.)

Crown Valley would be WAY out of your way, and wouldn't be pleasant as you cross I5 and go through a heavy shopping-center area.

I'd probably come down Santa Ana Canyon, turn up Villa Park/Santiago Canyon, turn off at Hewes, cross Chapman, turn on old Foothill, come down Newport Blvd, and take Irvine Blvd/Trabuco Road all the way to El Toro Road. I'd take El Toro toward the mountains, turn off on Santa Margarita Parkway, and take it toward Rancho Santa Margaritia. Turn off on Empressa, and take it to Antonio Parkway. Take Antonio Parkway the few miles into Ladera Ranch.

If that's too vague, I'll be happy to clarify here or via private mail. (webmaster@ocrebels.com)
