Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

If I build a dedicated gravel bike, it's getting Campy Ekar.

Agree - wheel warranty is dumb, getting a wheel repainted / refinished cost me $150 on the Acura.

It stayed on this time. I was towed beyond the environment.

Yes, but the audience at large doesn't know that, so it gives the appearance that Velo Vol is being smarmy and uber-obtuse and getting away with it. So it's gone.

Mrs. GeneJockey earned herself an "If Looks Could Kill" look from the Extended-Warranty-And Undercoating lady at one dealership, when she said, "No, we think these are pretty reliable cars, so we won't be needing an extended warranty", because what was the lady going to say? "It's a piece of ****! You need this coverage!"?

If no C'dale by 3:30, I'll drop LBS a gentle, "Hey, any news? I'll be in your neighborhood" email. It will only be true if the C'dale is ready, of course, but he doesn't need to know that.

Wheels are somewhere between Illinois and here. I keep seeing people using Michelin Dynamic Classics for vintage builds because they're gumwalls, but they list for $20/ tire and generally seem to sell for a lot less, so do I really want a cheap-ass tire on a bike that's already hard riding? No I do not. And I'm not going to get the special "TdF" version of GP5000s, either! Black tires are good enough for me.

Toyota was pushing an extended warranty on my last purchase which already came with a 2 yr warranty. I said "It's a Toyota, man. Reliability is why I buy these. I don't need no stinking extended warranty".

Actually I didn't say that last part out loud. But I thought it.

IIRC, Conti recently released a non-special-edition gumwall version of the GP5ks... I think.

If not, they do seem to be rising in popularity - I'm seeing them on many of the better tires from Schwalbe, Goodyear, Vittoria, etc.
