Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Okay, so it was a small field - 12 riders! And it was D-class. And it's Friday night. But I felt pretty good! I don't feel like I really stretched that much - not riding at threshold for 20 minutes or anything. I didn't let anyone get away, and mostly stayed in the draft, then pipped another guy at the line by 0.1 second. Turns out I took 3 of the 5 lap primes and all the Sprint primes. The sprint was up the only hill on the course, and it just seemed like somebody else would charge up the hill, and I'd work hard to keep up but at the top they'd slow down and without really intending to I'd take the lead, and pass under the banner first. Six times.

I figure I'll just keep racing D till they tell me to stop.

I missed the alleged infraction but I think he's on a self imposed hiatus that he takes on occasion.

This occurred earlier today. He'll back. back.

We were in the Tuscany region in 2008 and was driving along on an early Sunday morning and saw a few groups heading out for the day, fully kitted and beautiful bikes. Another day, we were in a medieval town on a hill and a group rode in through the narrow gate of the old city. It would have been a decent climb. Magical.

As a young adult, I was actively trying to figure out how to move to Italy...

Aaaaaand then I met my future wife at my friend's wedding, moved to NYC (which quenched the wanderlust a bit), got married, had kids, moved back to MN, bought a house and generally no longer have much flexibility in the matter of international relocation.

I used to dream of living in Italy, but now I think I'd prefer Spain. Less crowded and generally cheaper.

We were driving between Verona and Venice when we passed through Vicenza on the multi-lane and while I was commenting to someone that Vicenza was where a large bike component manufacturer was, I saw an exit sign of Campagnolo. I couldn't convince the group that we were with to take the exit.

58 Ritchey Breakaway. Flew to columbus ohio this morning to pick it up. Making my way back home now will take pictures tomorrow.

58 is hard to pack, so it took me about 30 mins to get it into the case. The case is original it doesn’t have any wheels. Will prolly have to switch that out later. Groupset looks clean and well taken care of. I think I will be able to get some decent miles out of it.

In another forum I frequent, a woman mentioned that her hands don't work well in the springtime. Arthritis. In my case it's the knee. I can ride without issue, but am reduced to a severe hobble in the interim. It likes heat and humidity to function properly. A couple months hence, we will have that in spades.

Slow morning. Must be Saturday.

The first time I packed my coupled bike it took well over an hour. Now it's a few minutes.
Congrats on the find. Awaiting those pics.

I have a couple of these, from different trips. Very easy to chuck into the carry-on luggage.
