I guess some photos first, and then a question...
Now the question -
I get a lot of rub and trim issues with the front derailleur. I've worked on it myself, bro it it to shops...and it never seems to work well. Should I switch out for a MTB front derailleur? Any advice?

GenO,
How are you liking the 1 x 11? What about hill climbing?
I have a Diverge Sport and was thinking of upgrading the Expert. Saw the Expert X1 with the 1 x 11 at the LBS this weekend. Very nice! I am a little leery. I live in the mountains of northcentral PA and do a lot of climbing. I swapped out my original cassette and put a 12-36 so my lightest gear is slightly less than a 1:1.
Could you add a from deraileur to the Expert X1 if you wanted to go back to a double or do you also have to change the rear cassette?

I've used the Diverge on many climbs, including Mt Diablo (~4000ft climbing over ~15 miles) and Mt Hamilton (~5000 over ~22 miles) here in the SF bay area. No complaints on gearing, except maybe that at the end I feel the heavier wheels in my legs a bit more in the end Surprisingly, time-wise, it hasn't affected me much if at all.
Hope this helps!

If you want lower gearing, a better option is to buy a smaller front chainring. SRAM makes a front chainring down to a 38 that'll fit on that crankset, and that's all you have to buy. You'll lose a little bit of high end, but still pedal out around 30 or so.

Jofu and masont,
Thanks for the replies. I thought it couldn't be as easy as adding the double crankset and derailleur. I was thinking of trading up to the full carbon Diverge at the end of the season. Looks like I'll have to do some thinking and test rides.

Hey. Not many hills here in Illinois- haven't even used the top two sprockets where there is the biggest gap - but plan to do some fun soon in Wisconsin or Palos Hills area. Also basically one ride so far because of my medical issue. Hope to commute with it tomorrow though.
As someone already answered - the X1 has the front derailleur bracket and internal routing for the cable. Probably the rest of the drivetrain and brake lever.
More porn since I can't ride (on site where I work):

Took it for a short 27 mi inauguration ride on the trails yesterday.
My biggest concern of the X1 was the 1x11 and how the gaps would affect me. Well I didn't even notice - it is not
like I am on a road racing, so... Brakes worked well. This my first SRAM group and I really like the double tap
and a 1 single shift lever - felt pretty natural; I love my Ultegra but these too. Fit of the 56 cm is just right for
me. The frame is stiff but just the right amount of plush IMO. I know some people hate the seat, but it is nice not
to get the seat rammed up your arse as bad when caught unawares. Look forward to commuting on the trails
with it come Tuesday.

Quick question for you guys -- They just got an Elite DSW up at my bike shop and I was checking it out yesterday...
The stock rear tire appears to be like 2mm from the front derailleur. So it doesn't look to me like I'd even be comfortable with 32mm's on there -- if I push on the stock 30mm, I can make the tire rub the derailleur. Does that sound like how it is on your bikes?

Hi All,
I'm pleased to report, i am a very happy owner of Diverge Sport now.
After moving on from steel frame flat handlebar bike I fly on Diverge!
I love every bit of it - but I'm thinking about getting some better pedals - problem is I'm not sure if I want to go clipless - any advice?

They are updating the website, the rest will show up. Seems like a very strange to switch to 48/32 since a lot of Diverge owners still spend quite a lot of time on the road. I also don't like the graphics on these new wheels. Interestingly there are now SCS QR wheels listed.

Nope. The only SCS models listed are the comp and expert and they are not 2017 models. The only 2017 models are non-SCS. And they have removed the SCS wheels. They are dropping SCS. So you at e SOL if you want to replace the wheels you are basically screwed and limited to the non-SCS derailleur hanger, which is a kludge and doesn't work very well from what I read. Wish I were wrong.
