I don't have a $2000 bike, but all mine together MIGHT get me $2000 in a pinch. 6 are hanging from a Harbor Freight 4 bike hanger that rolls around in my basement, 2 are leaned against each other also in the basement. And 1 is presently on my workstand. In my basement. Oops, forgot the permanent resident on the trainer, in my front room next to the treadmill. Both of which I need to use more..

Same here. I work in my garages so much I can not have crap hanging from fixed positions I have to duck under. I just find a rafter out of the way for today and then tomorrow sometimes that changes.
Matter of fact, I have so many projects going that my bike IS on top of my lawnmover right now waiting on new forks and keeping my work table clear (fork headtube stripped from 37 years of wear.) My 2k bike on top of a 20K race kart...go figure.

Two of my bikes use kickstands...rear mounted kick stands which can be very secure...even under loads. And the weight...negligible unless you're a weight weenie. And they come with the bike so I can stop anywhere and keep the rubber side down. Because there are no shop windows to lean against out by the lake.

I'm probably more of a "lean it against the lawnmower" type, really.
But then, I don't have a bike valued at $2K+. My current bike is north of $1K, though, so it tends to get treated a bit better. Still has a spot where it gets leaned, however. Covered, but still leaned. Used frequently enough, cleaned regularly, dried off and covered, it should last a good long while in decent shape.

Mine hang upside down like bats (gasp, from hooks) from the joists in the garage. No pampered life for them.
