Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The first one was solo, I had to delay it due to extreme wet conditions but once I got started I didn’t want to stop. It was. perfect 55 degrees, zero wind and I felt super strong. Had to stop when nature started to call. Not using wet leaves or my nice gloves.

Second ride was with Lily. She was bummed because she hasn’t ridden in two weeks. She took off strong holding 16 mph. I was super impressed. She didn’t hold it the whole ride, but she was looking stronger as well. At the 17 mile mark she said she wanted to do 30 miles. I was worried she was going to bonk at the 25 mile mark but she pushed through. Next week she wants to do 40 but she wants a break in the middle of it. Thinking of going up the cap trail and finding a place to eat and then turning around.

Super proud of her. I’ve never seen her so motivated before, and it’s crazy to me how far she is going. It took me months before I ever got to 30 miles.

Hope everyone is well. Been super busy and out of it lately, why I havnt been popping in all that much.
Lily is the other woman? I haven't been around for awhile.

I went back through the listing for the crank and BB, and there's nothing to indicate the threading. And given how good the chainrings and crank itself look, I'd have paid that for them without the BB anyway.

I'm going to have a lot of parts left over when I'm done. Maybe I should start selling those?

I think there's supposed to be another moon mission in a decade? Will the moon landing deniers gather more evidence that it's a hoax? Or will they be converted this time?

Lily is my wife. She started cycling in January, but usually only gets to ride one day a week for now.

When I first heard about Flat Earthers, I was sure it was meant ironically. NOBODY, I thought, could be THAT dumb. When I read that it's a real thing, I was gobsmacked. Apparently my opinion of humanity is unjustifiably positive. Or was, anyway.

This will be the 3rd crankset, bottom bracket, and front and rear derailleur on that bike. I'm starting to accumulate old cranksets and BBs, not to mention derailleurs. And wheels.

I had a whole thing typed out to explain why we are considered essential. But I don't think it would get through to you. So I erased it. If you spend a minute thinking about it, I believe you will figure it out. I have faith in you V.V. you can do eeeet!

I had to put a new battery in my Avalanche today. $180.00 for a battery.... and they want to make great big ones to power the whole car. This is just insanity.

"Essential worker" dates back to workplace shutdowns; there's no debate that keeping utilities running is essential, even if other businesses are closed.

But "essential" for vaccination priority is a different thing. Priority is given to those vulnerable to serious COVID, healthcare workers, etc. A different pecking order.
