Love that climate change

I live in Connecticut and seldom use my bike in winter (even, weather permitting) because snow or ice make conditions difficult. But February is almost over and I'll be using my bike this winter more than my snow blower.

it's OK until we hit the flip side & get a winter like 2014-15, especially that January & February of 2015. yikes. & the other flip side, when it's so darn hot out

My memory is apparently terrible at storing weather data. Because I'll go out on a ride, and think wow, it sure was warm today. Then I'll look at the Strava for the same date the past few years, and it will have been pretty much exactly the same.

Today, 70º and clear, 2019 was 66º and clear, 2018 was 68º and clear.

Then it occurs to me... we don't really have weather here, so it's tough to change nuthin'.

Great for biking, but it’s really messing with my ski season.

Echoing RumRunn, but adding the following. We got lucky this year. But the warm winters can be dangerous because they can increase the prevalence of ice storms. The ice storms often start as rain (or slush storms - we got a few of those this year), then as it continues to rain, it cools down to 32 or 31, and then continues to rain so more, so the rain turns to freezing rain. We got nailed by some of those up in NNE a few years ago, and I will never forget that.

Ditto. We had just an inch or two shy of 100 inches. The snowblower worked overtime that winter. And ALL the Great Lakes were damn near 100% ice covered.

Many years ago I spent some time on and off in San Diego. I'm sure this will sound odd, but the weather forecasts became boring. Weather forecast each morning was, "well, it's sunny up on the mesa with fog in Fashion Valley but it will burn off by 10:00 A.M." Guess I like more variety in my weather.

The movie L.A. Story was about a TV weatherman (Steve Martin) who was driven crazy by how boring and repetitive his job was.

To your point, Tyrion, there was a day last week in which there was almost no precipitation for the entire lower 48...such a thing almost never happens, especially this time of year

And ir wasn't a limited time offer at some fast food place you'll never have.
