Calories Burned

I have checked the online cycling calories burned calculators and they are wildly different, even with the same information.
Any thoughts or suggestions? I'l love to find an accurate one.

Power meter = accurate calorie readout. Anything else is just an approximation using data that is only indirectly related to power. Hence the discrepancy.

Pick one and stick with it. None of the calculators are guaranteed accurate. If you're trying to balance calories in - calories out, weigh all your food and recalibrate the calculator for your numbers after a few weeks.

In addition to what others have said, keep in mind some will add your BASAL calories and others won't.

The good news is that the accuracy of the calorie burning estimate doesn't really matter.

Personally, after playing with all kinds of apps and websites and spreadsheets, I found that 40 calories per mile is accurate enough for me, as generally average around 15 mph on mixed terrain rides. But, if a 50 mile ride is really 1500 calories or 3000, vs. 2000, it doesn't really matter - unless I was to try to eat exactly what I burned.

And that makes no sense - the accuracy of calorie estimates on food is at least as inaccurate as the estimates of how much you burn!
