Cable Housing & End Cap Dimensions

Hey guys,
I have a motor scooter throttle cable housing that is missing an End Cap(sometimes called a ferrule??). I'm not sure what end cap to buy. Most of them are just described as "4mm", or "5mm". I see on cable housings there is the metal spiral looking part and the black outside jacket on top of that.
The metal spiral part of my housing measures about 4mm outer diameter, and the black jacket at 5 or 5.1mm OD.

What does the advertised 4mm or 5mm end caps fit? Which part of the cable housing are they specifying as 4 & 5mm?

Thanks

The ferrules should be the same diameter as the cable. You want a ferrule? Or an end-cap to prevent fraying? Anywho - poke around here to see what you need. If it's just one or two, many bike-shops would just give you a few:

Pretty much one of these is what I want. Alligator Cable Housing Ferrule - Bag of Twenty | Alligator | Brand | www.PricePoint.com

The reason I want a ferrule is the metal part of the housing is getting pulled into the lever, and the outer jacket is getting pushed back. See my picture of it, you can see the outer jacket getting pushed back.

Rather than buying a bag of 20 right off the bat, try politely asking your local bike-shop if they can spare a couple. If only to entice you to patronize the shop, many will gladly fork over some.
