When people see that a tube is like $7.50 and the labor is $7, they quickly see that if they do it themselves, they save enough to buy another tube. Since we are located across the street from a college campus, we get a lot of students on a tight budget. This helps them out quite a bit, especially since so many ride to class and home.
The owner is pretty genius for doing this. Not many people would think that it would work, especially in a market that is already tough to make a buck. It is definitely working for him. The other day there were a few people waiting to use the stand and one guy just working on his bike right on the floor.

I found out my new Ti Road bike is nearly done just lost a piece to my EEbrakes which I am not happy about. I was sure everything was in the boxes so I just need to go and check again and check around the house and see what could have happened to them. Hopefully I will have pictures soon or at least get to ride it.
Fresh Garbage
So I made it up to Mahogany campground, the closest to Telescope peak, and I could only stay there for a short time because there are some crazy swarming flies that bite. I tried to hang out for a couple hours to catch the sunset but I had to nope the **** out of there Drove down the mountain on the dirt road and came to the next campground and hung out with wild donkeys because there were no other campers Then I just hung out, cooked, and drank of a bottle of sangri and howled at the moon. Going up into the mountains was excellent though, it wasn't as hot and there were very few other people. I will be going again after my next job.
Oh yeah, and I witnessed an F-18 jet fly directly overhead really really really low as I was approaching the valley on Panamint road. I had to pull over and hang out on the side of the road for two more. Incredible.
This three god damn times!

Took the project frame to the LBS to build up with the wheels and if I am lucky I will ride it on Monday, my birthday and 5th anniversary of putting Tempest on the road finished but for the fenders...

I saw the same thing when I was there.
Two were dog fighting. They came by, rolled back and passed real low right overhead.
Glad you had a good time. Sounds awesome. I'm really envious.

62 miles of gravel with some mountain-bikey horse trails mixed in at the turn-around point early Saturday morning. Good ride for sure. I have no good reason as to why I didn't take any pictures.

56 miles today in two separate rides. Group ride kicked my a double s. Upper 50's here right now in Michigan, and we got caught in a bit of a rain storm. Wind was already blowing so we all got pretty cold. Ready to pass out.

today i got a house. built in 1940 as a lake house, but it eventually turned into a neighborhood full of lake houses and is now a pretty great area. the whole "lake house" thing disappeared and is now just a part of town. about 10mins east of downtown and a 2 min bike ride from the lake. pretty stoked. minus the whole moving thing.

How much use did you get out of one charge, roughly?
If I was rich I would get Di2 and tubeless for my daily road bike. That would reduce my (routine) maintenance to dipping my chain in wax a of times per month - that's it.

Also, this weekend I tried to set up a Yakima Q-tower system on my 08 Corolla this weekend, and had a lot of trouble. I purchased the clips that fit my car, and we just couldn't get them tight no matter how we configured it. We followed the recommended dimensions and everything.
If anyone has any Yakima roof rack pro tips, I'd appreciate it hearing them. This one was given to me from my gf's cousin who has installed it on multiple cars of his, and we couldn't get this one even after a bit of struggling.

Straight molten paraffin is great too. You need a dedicated crock pot, but it's neat because you don't have to clean or lube the chain for a few hundred miles. At this point I can uninstall and re-install a chain (on a geared bike) very quickly.
I've been stoked on it for a good six months now and can't recommend it enough for road and track use. No more drive train cleaning!
I'm interested to see how the oil/paraffin mixtures work for you. The liquid-phase (short carbon chain) oil makes it easier to apply and work with, but also dirtier. Maybe you can find a sweet spot.

It's funny, plenty of reliable people testify to the benefits of wax, and yet for some reason it still seems gimmicky and almost everyone (including me) still uses nasty lubes that we don't even like very much. I'm not really sure what the reason for the disjunct is.

I thought wax was a great idea, until I found out it was a bad idea.

It just seems like a lot of effort and I don't care enough to try. I've been happy with T9 lube for the last couple years.
