I looked up that town (Sammamish) on Wikipedia for fun because of the funny sounding name. It's the richest town in America. Jeez. I'd like to see their 4th of July celebration.

If you could talk this guy down to $250, and it's your size, and you like green, and you don't mind the 27" wheels, you'd have a helluva deal on a Rodriguez in Madison, WI.

https://seattle.craigslist.org/see/b...124063699.html

And check out that sheared off crank arm.

It's telling that he didn't list it here. Seller knows that he won't get anything close to the ask price in this market, so he optimistically picked a location with a reputation as a "hot" C&V market. That still doesn't make a bike that is obviously this "rode hard and put away wet" worth the ask. He's shooting himself in the foot leaving that crankset on; he'd be better off selling it with it removed.

And FWIW, I'd be willing to bet that frame WASN'T made in Seattle. BITD, R&E had a "value" line of frames made in the UK. Still all 531db and nice enough quality but not "real" Rodreguezes. My track bike was one, and this appears to be another.

Doesn't say Reynolds, so could be anything. As far as stamped dropouts and Reynolds tubing go, take a look at the venerated Raleigh Super Course and the early Competitions.

Oh I know, I have line on an early International, stamped drop outs and all!

I wasn’t trying to say straight gauge and stamped is always a bad thing, just that it’s what this biked looked like. I hear good things about straight gauge Super Courses, and the butted Hi-Ten frames from trek and Fuji are both nice riders!

I just assumed he was trying to find a Rodriguez buyer in the home of Rodriguez.

Stretching the definition of vintage a bit, but $500 seems fair for a Ultegra bike with a 853 frame

So is the simple DT sticker a hallmark of those, they have one similar on their website, don't say anything about them being outsourced.

Quality bike, surely, but the frame geometry limits choices for couples who can ride it comfortably.

I posted a CL ad from Brooklyn that had one of these "Argentines" in green with a bizarro 531 label in the Wacky Thread recently... Ha, ha.

"1986 Specialized Allez SE (reputedly) handbuilt by Jim Merz", 60cm, $350

Not 3Rensho, but Jim Merz is a storied builder in his own right. And cheap given the fact that he built it.
