Bunch of police cars were destroyed earlier in LA, now the looting has begun. No big fires yet, though.
On the plus side I had a nice ride today which you could call a group ride, my first road ride with others since the lockdown. 50ish miles with 4000ish feet of climbing and I felt pretty good.

With out having a power meter or heart rate monitor I am trying to think of a way to improve my over all speed. Most of my rides I would say are don’t in my comfort zone, and I have seen improvement but improvement is pretty slow. Today for the first 30 mins I pushed it. My heart rate was noticeably higher, I could feel it in my legs. My speed usually hovers around 18 but today for the first 30 mins it was hovering around 23. Unfortunately, this pretty much zapped me and my mile 22 I was struggling.
Could interval training work? Normal effort for 10 mins then push it for 2? Slowly lower the amount of time that I am at normal effort?

Rioters in my hometown are bad-ass, too. They went to one Walmart but the police dispersed them so they went to another Walmart in an adjoining town (mine) and the police dispersed them so they went next door to a Lowes but before the police dispersed them, they started a fire... wait for it... in the garden department.

Way back in the old days, I couldn't even spell HR, let alone had any meters of any kind. All I had was a watch and a Multito (google that). Being mainly a criterium specialist and a natural sprinter, I practiced Fartlek training. Worked well for me because I was still working and could do a lot of training in a short amount of time and it works well without any meters. For example, I went hard coming out of sharp corners, up short hills, sprinted for signs, etc. It's not scientific like today but it works to a point. Riding with a group really works, too - natural competition.
Make sure to get rest; too many hard days can put your body in a hole that's hard to crawl out of.
