Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Hard for me to understand all of the angst over taping bars. I've been taping bars since 1982 and used to change colors 3-4 times a year for fun. Taping probably takes me 30', 45' at the most.

No data on the COVID19 one but this particular doctor thinks that blunting your immune response to a vaccine (by taking tylenol or NSAIDS) is a real thing and recommends against it.

There was a front page article about his opinion in the Philadelphia Inquirer last week. Google won't show it to me as I don't have a subscription, but feel free to look for it.

There is way to little evidence to say he is right or wrong. I would not worry too much about taking some tylenol after a vaccine at this point.

I'm trying to avoid the big defense contractors if I can, but a job is a job. Not to try and get too P&R but I already work with nuke parts and that makes me feel weird if I think about it too much.

What I really want to do is get onboard with a bike parts company. I sent a resume into Industry Nine in Asheville but never heard anything

BTW yesterday's ride was the first real road ride since I switched out my front chainring (recall the chain skip fiasco). I am happy to report that despite very strong torque from my legs going up a 15% climb, I was unable to make the chain skip.

Problem solved.

I guess I don't know exactly what Tylenol does that could alter the immune system.

30 minute bar wraps incite derision at the shop. Assuming, no customer interruption.

I've never timed how long I take to wrap a handlebar at home. I'll try to remember next time.

Same. I think a quality job is an hour+, minimum.

HVAC guys were here yesterday, while I tried to WFH. I ended up missing my planned 5PM start for Stage 5 of TdZ, so I ended up riding at 9 instead, after reading a couple things that said it's okay to exercise in the evening, as long as you stop at least an hour and a half before bed. This time I got shelled from the 3rd group on the road about 5 minutes in and ended up doing the whole ride alone. A lot of rollers and a ridiculous - and wholly imaginary - final climb. I think I slept well, but I gotta say, I have felt better in the morning than I do this morning. We'll see what coffee can do for me.

Some people think taking Tylenol lessens the effect of the vaccine by lessening the body's reaction to it. Or something like that.

Nope, but it does include ensuring the wrap angle is uniform throughout the bend.
