Here's what i started with...the paint was shot, chips and rust everywhere, and those are actually white hoods underneath the MOLD!! YUCK!!

Beautiful bike Andy, it cleaned up really well! I recently cleaned up a set of white 105 hoods that weren't quite as nasty as yours, but they were really sticky and I thought they'd need to be replaced. I used Goo Gone and they came out great, and the stickiness is gone too!

Did you replace your hoods, or were you able to clean them up?

Great read and pics on your website... I surely hope you don't part it out, that is a bike that deserves to stay together IMO...if it doesnt fit you, i am sure you could get a fair price for it here on C&V... and it would probably go to someone who could appreciate it.

I too prefer a 58, but the 56 is fine with a taller stem/seatpost...you might want to give that a try. NICE BIKE!!

I upgraded some since my last post on this....Ritchey zero wheel set 700c stock brake work just had to lower the pads a tad. Stock front and rear derailluer adjust to reach the 25t rear cog.

My 87 Le Tour. Bought it on craigslist. It was in bad shape...ugly glittery white with lots of rust. Cleaned it up and had it powder coated. Has 700c wheels with 9 speed Tiagra group.

A good set of tires would smooth that ride out quite a bit...Just like on a car. That's a nice clean one in a good color. Congrats.

i'm sure the hi-ten stays and fork don't help either

in real life the color is much more green.. not sure why but it's hard to get a picture of it to look like it does in person

Funny you should say that. My 88 World Sport is super comfy compared to my Circuit and Tempo and I used to say that it was because of the "softer" hi-ten stays and fork! To be honest it's probably because I run wider tires at lower pressure.
