This add caught my attention. Levis is marketing to commuters with reflective cuffed pants and jeans. Not sure I'm hipster enough to pull this off. But all these product design question dudes on the boards lately should be paying attention....

I don't think the Levis have the seamless crotch and articulated knees which I find to be super nice. They are also made out of a Cordura denim that is super durable/wear resistant, but the Swrve ones don't have the anti-smelling/microbe stuff. I'm a huge fan of the company as they are local to LA and make there stuff right here in the city.

From what I've seen they're a nice bang for your buck if you're after denim or khakis that work on the bike.

This is the second release for Levis, but my main gripe is still present. They only make these pants in the 511 model. Which is WAY too skinny for anyone that commutes/rides a lot and has built up some leg muscle. I'm a 30 waist in most pants, but I had to size up to a 33 in these just to get them on and when they were on the waist was way too big. I had to pass

Interesting. They're likely made in China, though, so I'm not interested in actually buying them.

I tried them on at JC Penney in my waist size (32) and I couldn't get them over my quads.

They seem designed for fashionista poseurs rather than actual cyclists.

What is the problem with a Chinese made product? Would it be different if it were Korean, Mexican, Japanese, Check? Curious since I'm in sourcing, Not for Levis as a disclaimer, but other consumer products...

Dickie's or surplus BDU pants, combined with a reflective leg/ankle strap will be just as effective and cost less. And apparently, a greater chance of fitting people who actually ride for transportation...

Neat design and all I don't want to knock them, but thats alot of money for pants. I am dirt cheap person so I'll stick to my thrift store pants most of which I get for a $1 a pair.

I'd have been more likely to buy them if they used the 501. Between cycling and squatting, I have big quads, calves, and hams.

I agree with the rest, as well as the fact that the crotch will wear through in no time since it is cotton. Good for the skinny folks with short commutes I guess. My 40 mile round trip would eat through the crotch seam work in a matter of weeks.

I commend Levi for having a marketing team that realizes there is a sector of buyers that are into (fashion) biking in nice weather and the increase in ridership, and that these folks have dangerously thin legs.

Can we please get back to the Levi's commuter jeans? Apart from the fact that most real cyclists (tm) cannot get their muscular quads through the pant legs, do these have any redeeming features at all? I occasionally wear Levi's 514 for my short 2-mile-each-way commute to the train station and every single time rue that decision as the 514 rub me the wrong way. This is on a Brooks saddle so it's as optimized as can be.

I wear Levi's over liner-style Nashbar bike shorts sometimes for 3-mile-to-the-train-station rides. But these are $30 or less Target Levi's. I don't see the point of paying more than that for a pair of jeans.

I think these Levi's are just marketed for hipsters really.

I'm assuming all you guys have experience in riding in denim in the rain? Wet, heavy, scratchy, unpleasant.

Denim is great for many things, but not if there's even the remotest chance of getting caught in the rain.

I don't have the commuter jeans, but wear Levis 511's all the time. It's a great cut if you're not old. Sure, blame it on your HUGE quads.

The cut is made for those with the proper frame. It has nothing to do with being a poser.

I've seen the pants &^ even posted a link to them when they came out. I'm glad that Levi is trying to reach cyclists, but skinny jeans are just not for me. If they ever took these ideas over to their Docker's line, I would buy them in every color & wear them to work all the time.

Be careful with the generalizations here people. Remember not all posers are skinny, and not all skinny people are posers. These are made specifically for skinny posers.

I like the idea but at that price and the "skinny jean" thing they don't work for me.

I have pretty much given up any hope of finding comfortable, affordable (under $40), pants I can commute in and wear all day.
