Hard fall yesterday. Damnit!!
Gorgeous here today in the Czech Republic and probably need a day or 2 to rest after my dumbass fall yesterday. I went for a ride in slight rain/drizzle and on a fairly busy road I crossed over a railroad track (going fairly fast) at an angle (as I normally do in DRY conditions). Went immediately down and hard. UGGG. So now have a bad bad painful bruise on my left hip and random other cuts/scratches. All else I'm fine but just wanna ride today and cant!! lol

Don’t feel bad, Despite riding for years, I had a total noob fall a few weeks ago. I thought I’d turn on the gas during a strava segment, something I rarely do. At the end, I decided to stop and wait for my friend to catch up, but with my heart racing the part of my brain that remembers to unclip from my pedals apparently shut off, and down I went. Most of the weight was absorbed by my left wrist, which hurt for about a week.

I know the feeling. Three weeks ago, I had my front tire roll off during a 35 mph downhill. But I'm back on the bike now, and my ribs are about all that still hurt now. Don't forget though, cyclists are tough, we're not like normal human beings.

Slow leak from a thorn puncture in front tire. Did not notice the leak until the tire slid off the rim (on a 12% off-camber turn).
Watch your tire pressures in the hills, boys and girls!

sympathies! oh man, sounds like an ice fall I had this winter, happens in the blink of an eye. 1 second you're fine, the next you're down flat. I was lucky, got slapped right down & spread the force along my whole side, even tapped my head at the end. 1st fall to the right side in a long time. mostly I fall to the left side (for random reasons). get well soon

I love having my crashes preserved digitally, so i can re-live them over and over again. I'm kinda funny that way, I love ruminating obsessively over my errors and figuring out ways to keep them from ever happening again.
I'm fine, having had lots of prior experience with crashes, I think I get better and better at it every time.

Great video. Careful around those bridges, I saw a guy go off one of those and break his neck. New England has ice and snow to deal with, in CA we have goatheads, fires, droughts, and earthquakes.

Why you ride like that? You are throwing the bike left and right all over your lane.

Wet steel rails and manhole covers are worse than wet road lines! Even cars easily skid or spin on them when roads are wet but they just do not tip over as easily!

Railroad tracks in the rain don't need to be handled that much more perpendicularly than in the dry. The thing to make really sure of in wet weather is that you're not still in the process of turning when your tires contact the wet steel rails, since they'll have almost zero traction against horizontal slip.

There was a study where they found that down to 60 degrees was pretty safe to cross railroad tracks and anything below that was likely to cause a fall. The study was conducted by pointing a camera out of the department head's office window.

You went pretty far on that ice before it ate you!!! I expected it a lot sooner.
